Unlike previous "upgrades" to Excel, this is a leap into a very different user interface. Previous Excel experts may find themselves spending whole minutes trying to locate features they previously knew by shortcut, and aggrevated by the ribbon bar which flicks about unexpectedly when your finger accidentally slips onto your scroll wheel, but all in all it's worth it.
Previously Excel was limited to a mere 256 columns, and many options such as Conditional Formatting etc. were limited to 3 rules. These have all been vastly expanded, turning it into an even more powerful piece of software. This is the second version of ABBYY software that I have purchased and it does exactly what it says on the box.
My day to day business requires me to handle a lot of paperwork and emails, prior to using this software this was the most time consuming part of my business and a complete nightmare. This new version of the ABBYY product is excellent and I am glad to report that the team has improved the software beyond my expectations. I handle alot of contracts, invoices and reports and have found that ABBYY can handle all of them. Not impressed. It might be good if it integrated properly with Word, but the integration to MS Word is hopeless, and messes up the toolbars and menus. On my copy of Word when I go to View, Toolbars, there is a list of about fifty PDF create toolbars.
Nuance is aware of the problem - the fix is to take away the integration with Word, which they note, will prevent any bookmarks, comments and hyperlinks being copied into the resulting PDF documents - hopeless! And if it isn't integrated, you might as well install Open Office for free and it will convert Word documents to PDF. >>More Details |

I purchased this product, installed it on my Vista laptop and had an initial issue with it popping up repeatedly saying that I had a trial version, when I had purchased a full version with multiple licenses. I tried with their online support team and then telephone support to resolve this issue. No one was able to resolve the issue and then when the so called 'trial period' ended it stopped working altogether. I once again spent endless hours on the telephone and with online tech help to try and resolve this issue and in the end downloaded a new bit defender from a link they sent me which stopped my laptop working completely. I could only operate my computer from safe mode and had no internet capability. I had to completely uninstall the ... Read More:

A agree with all the others who posted negative reviews - not only did it slow the computer to a standstill, performing scans constantly, but after un-installing it I found that it was still running a process in the background with I had to remove manually, along with a lot of other files the uninstall had failed to remove.
I would also like to complain about the large number of so called reviews that read suspiciously like adverts for anti-virus programs. Anyone who has used this product could not reasonably give it five stars. What proceedures does amazon have to prevent interested parties writing fake reviews? This is a fantastic bit of software. I am a serious Office user (Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Word mainly) and would consider myself an advanced user for many years.
The new ribbon interface is easy to pick up and is actually fairly intuitive. Most of the old keyboard shortcuts still work, which helps, but I tend not to use them as everything can be found very quickly. I also find the ribbon doesn't take up that much space as I have always found that I end up with a few layers of toolbars in Office 2003 anyway. The additional functionality in excel and powerpoint really stand out for me. I know this is an inexpensive product, so I wasn't expecting top of the line. The instructions, however, are not very helpful. I bought the product to make a will for both my husband and myself. I was very pleased wih the actual documents, they do just about what I wanted them to do. However, even though the instructions say that I can "save as," so that I can save two separate documents, this is not the case. What actually has to happen is that I have to export each document to my word processor, then start over in Will Maker if I have any changes to make. Quite clumsy, really.
However--in the end, it does what it says it does, the forms are good, and the price is right. >>More Details |

I never could see the point, my G3 iMac DV SE (graphite) being just so ace when used with the final release of OS9.2. I am an ex-Unix fan, though, so I finally succumbed to the temptation of true pre-emptive multi-tasking, real multi-user simultaneous logins and real security. But it was crash-proofing that I really coveted. And now I have them all. From what I've heard, missing out on 10.0, 10.1 and 10.2 was worth the wait, as OSX is now a mature product. If you've never used OSX before, buy the book "Mac OS X: The Missing Manual: Panther Edition" by David Pogue at the same time.
