Where do I start? I orignally had microsoft office vista and it was terrible. I went onto amazon to look at ability office due to a recommendation from a friend "it's just like office but a fraction of the price and a fraction of the space useage on your hard drive, trust me." Well I did value this person's opinion and anything that would remove the annoying low disk space message on my mini pc, eee pc 901. It worked and I can't begin to explain how alike microsoft and ability are. It looks exactly like office 2000, before microsoft put everything in confusing and annoying menus and mixed up where everything is. I think ability is so much better than office and I would definately recommend this to anybody who is thinking of buying a new computer ... Read More:

I have used Norton/Symantec products for over 10 years and love the products, but why does the company have to be so dodgy.
Firstly, when the 1 year updates end, they want you to subscribe or upgrade, but they don't value you as a customer. Year after year I find they want more money to simply upgrade than you can actually buy a new product for. Last year they wanted £39.99 just to send me a number to continue my subscription, yet I bought a brand new product, boxed, posted etc etc from Amazon for £24.99. I have bought the new 2008 product this year from a shop for £29.99. I bought this 4 months early because I wanted the free System Works & Go Back. This product is a very expensive waste of time. I followed the set-up instructions and tried to use the software to read into type a long hand written document. This was a waste of time, it did enter the document but with so many mistakes that it took longer to correct that it would have taken to type. I used the 'correction' by which it is supposed to 'learn' new words - again utterly useless. I have corrected a name 10 times and it refuses to recognise it, making the same mistake over and over again. This product is far too expensive not to work as advertised.

In one paragraph...i took the chance and took a day out my life to upgrade with the Vista Basic OEM software and it worked, well. My integrated sound card worked straight away and this was probably due to being connected to the internet whilst loading Vista. I did delete a few programs on my now old XP running PC, but left Broadband and every other vital program intact. I had to reinstall Office 2007 and my printer etc. My video card is older and doesn't work with my new Vista DVD media Movie Maker nor 'some of the non essential DVD features' of my seperate new Roxio burn suite software 2009, really only the DVD player side, but other than that Vista has given my 2006 PC no problems. I had to download a Roxio driver for £9.99 for my Vista based DVD Windows Player ... Read More:

If you're like me you live with windows XP because you have to,
in an ideal world, all those games and applications you want to run would work on something more stable like Linux. But Unfortunately because they don't, so I couldn't honestly recommend anything else for the typical PC user. "Prepare yourself for the most reliable, secure and responsive Windows yet." admittedly that's true it is the most reliable WINDOWS yet. Out of the box though, you would be very wise to add a few security features yourself. I suggest that when you use windows you MUST have a virus scanner, AVG is a good low cost option as they have an adequate free edition.
