Within minutes of completing the acoustic optimisation procedure after installation you will be surprised at how quickly and naturally you can speak and how accurate the voice recognition is. For me, it was about 98% accurate and much faster than typing.
Unfortunately, this was spoiled by a headset that pinches, even after being adjusted for size, and leaves you with a headache within fifteen minutes. This seemed more like a poorly designed product than a manufacturing error. The manual also states that the headset can be worn either way round. However, the earpiece is obviously designed to be worn over the left ear and is much less comfortable over the right. This is inconvenient if your computer is on your right. I don't know whether ... I've dabbled with NAV since the days of Windows 3.1. I've never liked it - always found that it slows down my PC, is resource-hungry and dreadfully annoying with nags and pop-ups. But this 2009 version is very different. Very light on its feet with a small footprint and no noticeable adverse impact on PC performance. It's too early to say how good it is at protecting users from viruses, spyware etc but at least it runs very smoothly and is inconspicuous in use. Very good indeed. Nice one, Norton!

I have personally found 'Tiger' to be the most efficient OS X to date, and therefore a real favourite for a couple of years when I was working in a graphics department. Their is no doubt Leopard is a beautiful upgrade, containing a stated "300+ upgrades", however, it is by no means essential if you Mac is work work purposes. The extra features we've found are not for the productive side of things, but more for consolidating files, making things visually look better, and a few notable new programs.
In short, Leopard would no doubt be a great update for the Media orientated users, but if you're all work and no play, it's actually not that essential. "Snow Leopard" has already been announced for next year anyway, and was stated would improve performance ... Read More: >>More Details |

Semperon 1.8 . 2Gb mem. XP sp3.I have used Ghost 9 since it came out and it has saved me many a time. Restoring a C drive in 15 mins.
This program ghost 14 was going to take over two hours this morning until I killed it. The lights out restore estimate was 5 yes 5 hours. Can you believe it. Sure it backed up my partitions ok quite quickly but the restore times are unacceptable. I have returned it for a refund, and shall either stick with version 9 or look elsewhere. >>More Details |

A few months ago I bought a new laptop which came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I've now had the opportunity to compare Vista to my desktop PC's XP installation. In summary Vista doesn't make a compelling upgrade. Memory usage is considerably higher, the default User Account Control setup is so overbearing that I disabled it completely and from the perspective of the end user the new features seem to be mostly related to visual tarting up and transparency effects. These new features add nothing much to productivity. The frequency and volume of critical security patches to apply seems to continue as with XP. There are some useful features but most of these can be added to XP by using existing free applications. Not a worthwhile upgrade.

Having used MS Money in the past, I was disappointed having downloaded the trial of the latest version, that it was not possible to buy it unless you were in the US. I thought I'd give Accountz a go as to be honest there don't appear to be many products on the market. It is however one of the worst software purchases I've ever had the misfortune to use. Completely illogical in how it works (particularly if you are used to MS Money) the user instructions are poor, it looks cheap and nasty and I will be reverting to a home made database instead

I started using Kaspersky from Version 6, after becoming dissatisfied with the way some other security vendors had turned their software into Bloatware. Mcafee is an example of security software, that tries to be the Jack of all trades, but is the master of none, while crippling performance. Kaspersky does what it says on the box and protects against Malware without all the Gimmicks. I was impressed with both Versions 6 and 7, but could Kaspersky Anti-virus 2009 live up to these high standards?
