A few months ago I bought a new laptop which came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I've now had the opportunity to compare Vista to my desktop PC's XP installation. In summary Vista doesn't make a compelling upgrade. Memory usage is considerably higher, the default User Account Control setup is so overbearing that I disabled it completely and from the perspective of the end user the new features seem to be mostly related to visual tarting up and transparency effects. These new features add nothing much to productivity. The frequency and volume of critical security patches to apply seems to continue as with XP. There are some useful features but most of these can be added to XP by using existing free applications. Not a worthwhile upgrade.

Graphics are very good indeed, as is the realism (although my submarine warfare experience is, thankfully, zero). It is a game that requires much patience and you can return from missions lasting several days without even having any enemy engagament! But the fun of sneaking into the middle of a convoy then picking off boats at will is very satisfying. Just don't let the enemy start pinging you!! Hours of enjoyment for the patient amongst you.

A great game if your into jigsaw puzzles and I would of given five stars alround. However it was spoilt because it said it was a trial version and I couldn't use the trays. Contacted digicon who told me it was not a trial version? Even so it is fully usable in every other way.

My laptop graphics drivers were corrupted once I installed this software. I recommend that you DO NOT install this software. I have Vista and the software support site recommends installation of Vista Service Pack 1. The app only ran for about 10 seconds and then the screen went black. Once I logged in safe mode and completed a system restore my laptop is now working. I'm sending this software back.

Mummy - This is Rubbish! This is what my daughter said to me when we put this on! I am so glad it was a present and I didn't waste any money on this. My daughter is 2 yrs and this was far too babyish for her even though it is meant for 1.5 - 3 yrs. It is very limited and we finished it in under an hour. The animations are repeated on the different screens, so if you see the Elephant on one screen, he sings the same song in the abc screen, the numbers screen, etc and it is really boring. The font used for the ABC learning is a 'comic' shaped font, so it would be hard for a child to recognise the actual shape of a letter. And a lot of the animations didn't make sense anyway. All this after I had to download the patch from the makers website before we could get it ... Read More:

The first thing that struck me about this package was the load time.
Generally..you want to just click an application and get on with the job in hand.
yes..it has lots of features..but as another reviewer pointed out..most of these apps are available elsewhere..and are probably easier to get to and quicker to load.
The Media centre app is really just a version of google picasa..which is free...the roxio version is sluggish I would say.
So.. I think you'll get the gist of it's other short comings from the other reviews posted.
From my point of view it's just too much stuff in one suite of apps..it tries to be everything for everyone ..but lets itself down with the speed of loading up ...I found the wait too frustrating.
Roxio do and always ... Read More:

This has been a delightful stroll down Memory Lane.
I was excited to get hold of this, because it included some games I remember from years ago, when I used to have the now-obsolete SEGA Master System II and when I used to play some of these games with a friend at his house.
Now, I have all those games and more on my own PC, thanks to this brilliant collection!
Sure enough, I haven't figured out how to unlock the locked games yet, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the games I have been able to play and indeed - these were good old days! Sonic the Hedgehog may be in 3D these days, but he started out big with these games!
I also love those special features, like the publicity and comic art also available on this disc.
To anybody who is any sort of Sonic fan, ... Read More:

I love Myst IV, it's an amazing game and very absorbing. I do find the puzzles hard but having found a website that just gives hints to point you in the right direction, I've been able to solve each puzzle myself. The graphics are incredible and when puzzles are solved and, as in some, a video sequence is triggered, it is truly rewarding and amazing.
I don't like war or battle games and this is the only one of this kind out as far as I've seen. I'm glad they've been brought out to be compatable with Vista as I've got XP on a separate hard drive in order to play this game. I've yet to get Myst V and Uru, both of which are Vista compatable.
