I have used an earlier version of this at work for when people bring their laptops in complaining that they are running slowly.
Used in conjunction with a few other cleanup/maintenance tools..it does a very good job. This new version is more impressive and has other features not found in the previous trial version I used..optimising and tune up functions which also seem to improve performance. This version will also monitor your registry for changes...which can be both helpful and sometimes an inconvenience wuth pop up messages which you have to clear. >>More Details |

A few months ago I bought a new laptop which came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I've now had the opportunity to compare Vista to my desktop PC's XP installation. In summary Vista doesn't make a compelling upgrade. Memory usage is considerably higher, the default User Account Control setup is so overbearing that I disabled it completely and from the perspective of the end user the new features seem to be mostly related to visual tarting up and transparency effects. These new features add nothing much to productivity. The frequency and volume of critical security patches to apply seems to continue as with XP. There are some useful features but most of these can be added to XP by using existing free applications. Not a worthwhile upgrade.

I bought this primarilly to copy my large collection of music across several DVDs (something it claims to do). However it crashes when I import lots of files.
No updates, seemingly total lack of any reponse from support. I would avoid this software like the plague. >>More Details |

I have been using Windows Vista Home Premium for nearly two years. Initially I used it on a "Windows Vista Capable" machine, and with all the UI effects turned on it ran like a dog. I remember the same thing in 2001 when I ran Windows XP on a 233 MHz machine with 64 MB RAM (the minimum spec for XP). I have since used Vista on my other two newer machines, each of which exceed the recommended spec, and I have been rewarded with new stability and security, along with an enhanced multimedia experience. Mac OS 10.5 has nothing on Vista (I use both at work), just don't try to run it on low-end hardware and expect miracles.

Well like so many, I bought it when it was on offer...
Installed and made my fist whole system back up. Lets face it, you never know if its done it right until you have to use it...fortunately it had as I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled as hoped... thats the good the bad is since then I have not been able to create another wholesystem backup - well not one that I feel confident of... and after 3 or 4 emails to their support - each time it has taken AT LEAST 1 week to reply and then displays a complete lack of understanding of the question if you need to be sure that you have a good backup, shop elsewhere >>More Details |

I have had mixed experiences with Zone Alarm in the past so I was keen to see what they have to offer in this latest version.
Firstly, and this was not a good start, it refused to run on my test machine, an Asus A6U notebook running Vista SP1. It installed quickly, apparantly without incident, and following the requested restart all seemed well. However, I found clicking on the Zone Alarm tray icon produced no result neither did clicking on the application icon itself. A second attempt following a reboot was no luckier and so I was forced to uninstall the application and try again on a second machine. I began using Dragon 9.5 due to a worsening wrist problem aggravated by typing. From the first, I found the experience generally frustrating due to the number of mistakes made in nearly every sentence, which slowed my work down considerably. After approximately a year, version 9.5 became corrupt, and while I was loathe to spend any more money on what I considered to be an essentially faulty product, I reluctantly upgraded to version 10, which I have just installed today. (Note: I am not using Windows Vista, but generally, I had no problems with the installation).
