An incredibly bad buy. Every attempt to visit a web site brings up an apology about the McAfee Proxy Service Module having to close. It relentlessly tells me that my home network is unprotected because it is not installed on my BT Vision box and the plugs that transfer the signals. McAfee anti virus products have me let me down before; I should have learnt my lesson. Unfortunately I saw a review that highly rated this offering which was the only reason I bought it.

I bought this software because I've used zone alarm before and in fairness, I've never had any problems. Until now. This software took a couple of goes to install, when it finally did install it slowed my computer down to a snails pace. I know how to configure Zone Alarm having used it before, but this version wouldn't let me update the files, it just kept giving me error messages. The main reason I uninstalled it, 30 minutes after installing it, was because it wouldn't let me onto the internet, nor would it let me access my emails. I had to shut it down to go online, I even had to shut it down to access Amazon for a returns label to send it back. I've since found out that other people have had the same problem as me. It might not happen ... Read More:

yeah after reading the reviews and wanting to get away from zonealarms config problems and weird annomolies this looked a good bet. It is, very happy, simple software, nice added bonus with ID protection and ad blocking, never thought I would be saying this about a norton product, been a ZA & Mcafee user for years, works seamlessly with an antivirus product, at the mo with Norton 2005 but I am upgrading to 2006 and adding windows defender. Very secure and so much less system drag than a full suite, I can't really see what is missing, I am sure the norton suite version which gets shocking reviews has all the problems. Just goes to show, build your own security options and it works fine. Happy so far and would recommend this over suite protection. ... Read More:

Having tried this, I've gone back to the built-in Vista backup system.
The Backup and Protect Suite comes as two discs, one of which I already had for disk copy and clean. No printed instructions, and once installed a not very user-friendly system and poor help information.
No point in backing up if you don't know how to restore, in my view.
It created two huge backup files on my external drive, but it seemed to me that all I could do was restore all of them or none of them, and even then I wasn't sure how I was meant to do it. I did not feel I was in control.
Eventually I've deleted the huge files, uninstalled the program and put the software away - I don't believe I shall ever use it.

I have recently set up my new Mac laptop (having given up on Windows and its numerous problems) with both Leopard OS and Windows XP using Parallels. So I was keen given wide use of Norton over the years in protecting my Windows PCs to protect against such viruses and also cover the Mac side being infected (plus being the target of many new virus attacks I suspect as Apples computers popularity grows).
This seemed the ideal product - but at the last minute noticed it only works with Vista (!) which ironically was the actual reason why I had given up on Windows PCs, given the dreadful way that system had been rolled out and the numerous problems seen.
Sadly now that XP is a very stable and robust system to use, Microsoft are ... Read More:
