I have several hardware backup devices installed in and connected to my old 800Mhz Athalon full tower home built PC. Most of the OEM supplied software is incompatible with the newer operating systems and required upgrading at considerable expense. "Backup my PC" is low cost but functions effectively with my hardware. Hardware devices fitted include 5Gb HP IDE tape drive, HP 2-4Gb DAT scsi Tape drive , Exabyte 7-14Gb scsi Tape drive, Ricoh ATAPI DVD+RW, and Yamaha scsi CDRW. "Backup my PC" recognises all the installed devices and can produce a "one button backup" or configurable partial or incremental backup and can even be automated as well. This is a must for every computer - I believe its spyware protection is second to none. It has protected my computer for the last 3-4 years and takes <20 mins to do a full scan (recommended at least once per week). Better still it is compatible with McAfee internet security software. AOL customers receive AOL Spyware Protection software free, but this is not as good and can interfere during start-up, as well as being annoying in that it interrupts for updates rather than running this in the background. Webroot SpySweeper is worth paying for, believe me. Thankyou Amazon for good price deals on both Webroot and McAfee products - much cheaper than going directly to the supplier.

Great program which does exactly what it says on the tin! I have had version 2, version 3 and now version 4. Easy to configure and after tweaking it to do exactly what you want will provide you with a hassle free screen. This version also provides an updater to monitor new spyware. I did personaly have a problem installing version 4 as whilst it automatically removes older versions it would not do so with version 2 and after a question on the webhelp site I was sent a patch to download which reinstalled version 2 and then deleted it and continued the installation properly. If you have not had version 2 you will not have this problem. Overall I have found this to be a good user friendly product. >>More Details |

One of the best features within Antivirus 2007 is the Live Update Service, which keeps the program up to date for the length of one's subscription. So the program is always aware of new spyware and viruses. Whenever there's a new threat the program updates itself very quickly to adjust to it and be able to protect the computer it's running on from the new virus.

I have been using Ghost 10 for quite a while. Ghost 10 didn't have the most intuitive of intuitive of interfaces but I quickly got used to its quirks. I had read that the new program had made this all a lot clearer and on first sight it is. It is much larger with nice pie charts and graphics showing you information about what backups you have. After struggling with it for hours, I decided it was far less intuitive or just the same but involving more operations. If you want to delete recovery points, what do you want - tasks or tools? What these people never seem to do when designing these things is to ask their secretaries or girl friends to sit down and try and work it out. They might get some useful suggestions.
