have bought Panda AV for past 4 years = works perfectly with my 2yr old standard XP computer (512MB memory), and with previous computer before that
so much better than Norton et al, and doesn't hog the computer's speed like others do! recommended for all standard XP users like me - not used the tech help which I gather is hopeless, but otherwise for this price / performance should suit most users >>More Details |

i purchased this from amazon last year as it seemed the best after reading all the reviews. it was easy to load but slowed down my computer quite a lot.paid this year for another twelve months subscription and anti virus updates. now each time i receive windows updates i have problems.last time i could not access the internet this time with windows xp system pack 3 update my whole computer stopped. it took me three hours constantly switching off and on again to uninstall zonealarm. i now have avg8.0 loaded it semms more stable than zonealarm and my computer is much faster but only time will tell

I have found Kaspersky so much more effective and faster than Norton, but it might need a little fine adjusment and tailoring to your computer. 2 years running when I have installed it, it has disabled my internet connection, but it just needs the ports settings adjusted. For those who might find themselves in my position, click configure mail anti-virus from the Kaspersky menu on the desktop and then select scan pop3 etc highlighted in blue and then keep unchecking boxes until the internet works again.

If I had to sum up this software it would be 'close but no cigar'. It promises a lot and it is true that the front end is well featured and easy to drive. However the one absolute of a backup application is reliability and this software has persistent bugs that seem to have been there through several versions of the product. The result is that in some cases the backup either crashes out or, even worse, is corrupt. I have run this package against several other applications and it is just not a reliable set-and-forget backup tool.

I have never used an `anti-theft' or `vault' program before, so I was a little slow on the uptake. It's fairly simple if you follow the steps carefully. The program asks you to create three answers to three questions for security for your one password. You can then create as many secure `vaults' as you want, but you have to predetermine, or guess, how many MB each vault will be to hold your information. McAfee automatically assigns a letter for each vault (it looks like another drive; i.e. Z, Y or X, etc.) 4GB is the maximum for each vault, but I found that to be very generous unless you are securing a great many photographs.
