I bought this as i thought it would protect my computers - it almost destroyed them! I put it on a XP and then on a Vista.
The XP one could not connect to the internet at all. It took me hours of frustration only to find the internet once i un-installed it.
The Vista one was even worse. Not only did i lose the internet i almost lost my computer! Luckily i had a restore disk and i did it to 3 days earlier - it took hours but thankfully Kaspersky was gone and everything worked again. Phew!

Seems that it's getting all the rewards, I thought to myself 'why not buy it'?
A few days later after comparing what the competitors had to offer I got it. It installed nicely and quickly and hasn't made my PC slower until I used the internet. It kept on asking me if I want to allow this and that to send a cookie to some website so I just click on 'Allow'. The next time I used the internet, it asked me again. Again again and again. I started to get a bit annoyed so I contacted the BitDefender support team. They respond to my 20 odd emails in time but they still haven't told me how to stop it.
Moving on. I previousl had McAfee installed on another PC and once I installed BitDefender, ... Read More:

tried all the suites, not really found a suitable protection that didn't feel top heavy, maybe mcafee 2008, so wanted to try a basic antivirus. This seemed ok, speedy rotation of web pages and nice clean interface. But I was concerned how such old software copes with he modern internet perils. Not brilliant as it happens, nothing flagged up, found sever slow down so suspected something amiss? Just ran the windows live one care free scanner to see if anything obvious was lurking and low and behold some nasty red warning symbols appeared. Makes me wonder on the security if windows defender can pick up stuff. More than likely its just a little too dated now. Not really recommended for todays use. I think 2006 onwards fares better, will be trying 2006 version which looks ... Read More:

I upgraded my daughter's computer from Norton Internet Security 2005 to 2007 but it would would not complete properly - it would not run and locked up the computer. I tried to uninstall but it would not allow me to do this - eventually I managed to reboot and do a system recovery back to before the installation. No way am I going to try it on any of our other machines.
If you are thinking of buying it, google "norton user forum" and look on the Topix site. At the last check, there were over 200 people reporting problems with this product. How on earth do they test their software - certainly not on the average user's setup!!!
