Bought this because of its supposedly legendary CD/DVD burning abilities, but - and this is hugely unusual for a Mac- couldn't even get it to install. It just kept crashing the (brand new) computer every time I tried. Returned it for a refund. It's not the first time I've had problems with Roxio software, though it will certainly be the last. Life's too short.

MacSpeech Dictate (Mac/Leopard)
Installed software without any problems. I found that I needed to activate a switch on the microphone, which came without any manual. The software can be trained in 10 minutes, and then it works beautifully. Much better than ViaVoice which I used previously.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter to help improve her English and Math skills, and I can't praise this programme enough!
My daughter actually looks forward to playing the games and frequently comes up to me saying "Mummy, can I play Jump Ahead Year 2 now please?" with much enthusiasm. I thought it might be just a fad - like with all toys! But she really does enjoy it. I think its because the math games are challenging and she enjoys the excitement of the "theme" of the game, like jumping over crocodiles to get across a river.
I can tell you one thing, I wish I had something like this when I was little learning maths because it would have made the subject less scary. This actually makes maths look fun and because ... Read More:

It's kind of fun, but it's annoying at the same time:
1) Interface feels really sluggish. You click on a button and it pauses for half a second before making a sound and doing what it's supposed to do.
2) You can't set a default difficulty level, but have to scroll through a list of "personalities" every game. But they don't do anything interesting with the personalities idea - it just serves to make selecting a difficulty level harder.
3) It chops off the bottom of the screen if running in widescreen, as most laptops and many desktops run in these days.
4) It crashes very often - maybe 1 game in 8 (running XP), in the middle of a game
I have 6 PCs one each running on 98 and 2000 and four on XP. In comparison, 98(rev B) is excellent and generally very stable but lacks some critical facilities e.g. the ability to view picture thumbnails. That said, the machine that it's on is in regular use as a word processor and does a grand job. 2000 is brilliant. Never falls over, has the ability to show thumbnails (albeit only one file at a time) and is not too hungry for resources. Let's pass over ME, that was pathetic and had more bugs than the natural history museum. The one machine that originally had ME was upgraded to XP (without any problems).
XP SP2 is, in my opinion, the Microsoft operating system most fit for purpose to date. This is written 6 months after the release of Vista! ... Read More:

I can't praise this product enough. If you are looking to create state of the art websites with CSS, etc. then Dreamweaver is the software to own. All the hard coding is done for you well you use the design view to add anything you desire.
I have a lot to do to my sites yet but I managed to create and publish my very first webpage within 2 days of uploading the software to my computer. It downloaded on Windows Vista Home Premium within 10 minutes with no problems at all.
Just a tip for beginners, check out YouTube for Dreamweaver CS3 Tutorials. You will learn all the basics there and it beats any manual or book.

One of the better software packages of this type. I found the music editor (for getting rid of major "clicks") excellent, although you're better of using a graphics tablet and pen for greater accuracy.
Gets rid of most the basic vinyl faults easily and quickly, to leave a good recording to burn on cd.
I found one good example of this software in work on YouTube, well worth tracking down.
On the downside, AC Lab (when I put a split mp3 track) annoyingly did not load the second part, but other software does, also refused to load mp2 tracks, again other software does...
The manual still leaves a lot to be desired, and as some of the help screen has some of the index titles and the actual screen dumps in German a certain sloppiness is involved.
