I bought this as i thought it would protect my computers - it almost destroyed them! I put it on a XP and then on a Vista.
The XP one could not connect to the internet at all. It took me hours of frustration only to find the internet once i un-installed it. The Vista one was even worse. Not only did i lose the internet i almost lost my computer! Luckily i had a restore disk and i did it to 3 days earlier - it took hours but thankfully Kaspersky was gone and everything worked again. A great disk, both my kids loved it, I bought this to try and get my little boy to advance with his reading and he loves it. Takes a while to figure out how to get into the different rooms, but both my 4 year old and 6 yr old can work the computer by themselves using this software, it really is easy. A great interactive program.

i hate to admit it being a geek, but in my time using computers, xp is a much better piece of kit. xp may be slower (only slightly) but isnt as demanding on your hardware. xp may not be as flashy or pretty, but at least it gets the job done, (my vista experience had one of my webpages crashing and then as a safety precaution shut down my computer, xp takes a while to fix it and then just gets on with it)
sure vista will have some bugs, so thats another reason to get xp well at least untill they release a service pack for it. for gaming the direct x 10 feature of vista is a good thing, but on avergae you'll need twice the specs to run a game then if you did it on xp. and seen as though only a few games to my knowledge only support ... I'm giving this 5 stars because versions 8 and 9 between them have saved me so much time and money, but I can fully appreciate its limitations for other people. What works really really well, is dictating a long report into a digital recorder, transferring the sound file to the PC, and then leaving Dragon to get on with transcribing it into Word, which on a good PC will be at about 250wpm. I'd say the accuracy on this basis really is 99% at the very least, and this using onboard sound rather than an additional sound card.
Otherwise, my experience has been that: Minijack microphones just don't work. The connection isn't tight enough, and even with a USB microphone the sound properties will probably have been changed by some other program ... Read More: >>More Details |

Be aware that the Anti-Virus version of Kaspersky does not have the firewall feature, if you want the personal firewall look to the Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. I wanted to try Kaspersky because of its 'low impact on System Resources'. I use an Intel Mac and only run Windows XP in virtualization using Parallels for Mac. Virtualization means I have two different computers running at the same time on the hardware of one. Kaspersky is quick to update and scan. It has a clean interface. It installed easily. I'd never rate the Nancy Drew as the best possible adventure games. They tend to be puzzle heavy - that is, abstract puzzles rather than logical deduction about the real situation. What's always good is the quality of the voice acting, and the way the story progresses. I also felt that Icicle Creek was quite fair in helping you along.
I've seen complaints about having to continuously do the chores - in fact, at least in junior mode this wasn't necessary - occasionally you are prompted to do the meals or do the rooms when you don't bother, but then there's a plot development that makes it necessary at that time. My laptop graphics drivers were corrupted once I installed this software. I recommend that you DO NOT install this software. I have Vista and the software support site recommends installation of Vista Service Pack 1. The app only ran for about 10 seconds and then the screen went black. Once I logged in safe mode and completed a system restore my laptop is now working. I'm sending this software back.

I recently bought this game to cheer myself up and boy did it do the trick. This game pleasantly suprised me with the quality of the graphics and although the game play is fun it lacks an air of difficulty. Republic commando allows you to control a team of 4 commandos during the clone wars and as another suprise doent contain jedis. You follow the back story line which is nice as it seems the game doesnt have to follow a srtict line to please fans, which gives it an air of mystery, which can only help its overall fun factor. All in all a good buy (special at the price i bought it for) that will entertain you for a while.
