I am very surprised by most of the reviews here.
I can't tell you how disappointed I have been with PSP X. I have used version 7 for several years with no problems at all, it has been reliable and powerfull enough for my requirements ( I am no artist ), it is the reason that I bought X. My experience of PSP X is that is is slow, especialy with pathed vectored text, it crashes so often that I have gone back to 7, the interface is cluttered by comparason, less intuitive with more eye-candy styling and less usability. The version I have may be X1, though it has patched itself with downloads from the Corel site. Overall .. I will not be using this product again. >>More Details |

This is without doubt the worst game I have ever played. Where to start, its ALL so bad.....
The graphics are very fuzzy, the story is laughable, Holmes himself does not even have the correct accent.There's nothing worse than an american trying to do an English accent! The camera angles give you seasickness and dont point you to where you want to go, and finding objects what with the fuzziness and the camera shooting all over the place is grim. The dialogue, what there is of it, is pathetically bad, a six year old could have written it better, and no Dr Watson either, so Holmes just mutters to himself. Pretty good software - and popular too. A very strong feature is the 100% GEDCOM compatability. I found it slightly difficult to get to its way of organising the data input screens but the tutorials with it are thorough.

Released this year, PhotoPlus X2 is a great alternative to Adobe Elements 6, and although not quite as polished, it's strength is often it's price and it offers a few more features. Serif rarely sell via stores, and rely on word of mouth and cheap upgrade offers to get new users. The fact they have reached version twelve in PhotoPlus shows they must certainly be doing a lot right. I always used Serif software (DrawPlus, PagePlus) at home until I got free licences of Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office Pro from work (which would cost me a few grand to buy myself). Even now, when I've had to pay with my own money for image editing software, I chose PhotoPlus X2 over Elements 6 or Corel's Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 [largely because of the low upgrade price]. Oh dear. I was hopeful about this software - McAfee have a big name in the industry. But it seems to have failed.
I installed the product - it took 3 attempts and eventually it worked, and on the desktop was a big shiny M. It all worked absolutely fine, except that you could not open the Backup & Restore section, nor the Firewall Lockdown section. But, not to worry, because everything else worked. Then I switched it on the next day, and the first thing we noticed - it took 3 attempts to open it. Then there was a big red X saying that my computer wasn't protected. The virus scan, spyware checker et al had all failed. So, I installed ,cAfee Virtual Technician, which failed to help, and after an half hour conversation over IM with a technican, I was running ... "Featuring the likeness of the CSI crew"... yes.. that is apart from Sara Sidle and Catherine Willows. Two key characters. Normally it wouldn't be such a big deal but considering the gameplay in these games is normally quite limited, having the real voices has long been one of the only redeeming features. The Sara impression in particular is absolutely dire.
If you aren't a fan of the show, avoid this game at all costs. If you're a CSI fan on the other hand, well, whilst the graphics have improved compared to the previous 2 games, its slightly easier, particularly compared to the second CSI game, and the storylines aren't that interesting.
