Norton Internet Security (NIS) is the industry standard for domestic computer protection. It's a good piece of software and I buy it every year. This year I'm a student (again) so I bought the student edition to save some pennies. I will most likely buy the same again next year. 1) If you're only using your computer for word-processing or surfing the net, this software will let you do that in safety. If, however, you use memory-intensive software such as Photoshop or 3D Studio MAX (and probably some games) NIS can make them run significantly slower.
