I have always had a soft spot for Publisher and still use the 2003 version for my teaching and for producing teaching handouts. I haven't bought the 2007 version but have looked at it and it all seems very similar to what has gone before.
For the money, it looks very expensive these days and very poor when compared to products from Serif and the like. Also, remember the latest version of Word makes a good stab at being a half decent DTP application, at least for simple projects. Buying both really is bordering on duplication. I had this product shipped directly from Sony USA as I needed it to work on a wedding video I recently shot.
I already own Movie Studio 8 Plat edition and have upgraded so that I can work in 1920x1080 video and export directly to Blu-ray. It's an amazing piece of software and I can thoroughly recommend it for the semi-pro/competent amateur. The pro's would naturally be looking at Vegas Pro, but for less than £100 I can hardly think of a more advanced package. I am using a Sony SR12E camcorder and have output a few projects in high defintion using Vegas and it really has to be seen to be believed. High quality output really is at your fingertips. Well like so many, I bought it when it was on offer...
Installed and made my fist whole system back up. Lets face it, you never know if its done it right until you have to use it...fortunately it had as I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled as hoped... thats the good the bad is since then I have not been able to create another wholesystem backup - well not one that I feel confident of... and after 3 or 4 emails to their support - each time it has taken AT LEAST 1 week to reply and then displays a complete lack of understanding of the question if you need to be sure that you have a good backup, shop elsewhere >>More Details |

Let it be clear: this is a great household package. It is great for producing letters, flyers, greeting cards etc. on the fly. But let it be clear also: this is no educational package, as it is lacking presentation software (powerpoint). If you have kids/students, opt for Office student licence, or the free OpenOffice.

I learned to touch type on Mavis Beacon. Sadly the CD-ROM from Windows 95 is not compatible with Windows XP, so when I upgraded my computer I had to buy it again. Guess what-I've now got a laptop with windows Vista-and it's not compatible either!I will not buy it again! The program really works-I was up to 30wpm in a couple of weeks, and it's easy to do a quick refresher at the PC when you have a few minutes. Watch out though-if you are planning to change systems/computers, the CD will become useless!

The title says it all, really. This program isn't an antivirus and consequently, it won't protect you from nasties you happen to download (accidentlaly or otherwise) from the internet. I always like to make this sort of thing clear because I've fallen victim to mistaking programs to have an antivirus, only to find it doesn't have one. Try Kaspersky or Nod32 if you are looking for an AV program.
So what TuneUp Utilities does is in esscence, finds ways to speed up your PC or laptop (running Windows Vista or Windows XP) by tweaking your system here and there, cleaning up unused files which are hidden on your hard drives and performing certain other tasks which can make using your PC that little bit better. I bought this for my 8 year old niece - apparently now we have to call it "the game that I love " . She has played with it every day for over an hour - its not easy but that just makes it even more fun ! I am now the "best Aunty in the world " for buying this for her ! Presently on PcPro's `A-List', Adobe Elements is a cut down version of Adobe's £500+ Photoshop/Photoshop Extended CS4, and costs considerably less while still having a lot of useful photo editing capabilities.
