I used Version 8 on Windows 95 to teach myself to type in the late 90s.
Then I thought it was great. It was a big help.
This version I expected to be more polished. Perhaps more scientific in it's approach; though really it hasn't changed much. Still good.
Purchased for my neice, installation hung on her XP machine during install/registration. Ctrl+Alt+Delete showed registration and installation to behave as two seperate applications. Killed registration and the installation proceeded.
The first thing I noticed was that the interface didn't scale well to a widescreen resolution of 1680 x 1050 some jumbled text in the options dialogue.
This is a great game for all those who love the Mahjong games. So many different layouts. The only negative is that the tiles don't have the numbers etc written on them. But hey, that makes it more challenging! You will enjoy it.

Photoshop Elements 6 (MAC)
Don't buy this. It's rubbish. PC program trying to run on a MAC. Spend extra and buy Aperture which is a proper MAC program. Let the PC anoraks buy this rubbish and the proper MACs win again.

The game would not load. There was extra instuctions about changing your virtual memory on your pc in order to play the game but to no avail. My PC is top notch and plays everything else available but it won't play this game! What the hell is a swap file anyway???
What is the point of making a game that won't play on decent spec computers? Unfortunately I have thrown away my amazon receipt, so I can't even send it back......probably.

Out of the box, and installed on a top spec computer running Vista, there were some immediate problems - clips were freezing and rendering was not working well. The advice from the handbook was to check for updated drivers for everything - including a search for patches on Pinnacle's website. This was done and multi-megabyte upgrades were downloaded. Windows update did not find any new drivers for the graphics card - but on Nvidia's website there was a new driver. Pinnacle posted a patch in October - some months after I had bought my copy - so it looks like gremlins had been reported - and fixed. Since then everything has worked perfectly - HD as well! It is an easy piece of software to use and is well worth the money - but it does require top notch hardware and ... Read More:

A few months ago I bought a new laptop which came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I've now had the opportunity to compare Vista to my desktop PC's XP installation. In summary Vista doesn't make a compelling upgrade. Memory usage is considerably higher, the default User Account Control setup is so overbearing that I disabled it completely and from the perspective of the end user the new features seem to be mostly related to visual tarting up and transparency effects. These new features add nothing much to productivity. The frequency and volume of critical security patches to apply seems to continue as with XP. There are some useful features but most of these can be added to XP by using existing free applications. Not a worthwhile upgrade.
