In one paragraph...i took the chance and took a day out my life to upgrade with the Vista Basic OEM software and it worked, well. My integrated sound card worked straight away and this was probably due to being connected to the internet whilst loading Vista. I did delete a few programs on my now old XP running PC, but left Broadband and every other vital program intact. I had to reinstall Office 2007 and my printer etc. My video card is older and doesn't work with my new Vista DVD media Movie Maker nor 'some of the non essential DVD features' of my seperate new Roxio burn suite software 2009, really only the DVD player side, but other than that Vista has given my 2006 PC no problems. I had to download a Roxio driver for £9.99 for my Vista ... Read More:

Well I got it with my last PC and it was brilliant. Great for those who want the multimedia benefits of Vista but with out the stupid system requirements to run it smoothly.
The theme used for MCE is brilliant. A much sleeker looking theme that's easy on the eye. Normal XP users can download it. Just type in Royale Theme on google ;)
The media centre part of it is really cool aswell. It's similar to the one's found in Vista. Slick, quick and stable.
MCE is also built upon XP Professional not Home. So it's got all the advanced networking features.
Basically, if you're not a gamer and don't need DX10 graphics, 64bit CPU and more than 3gb ram then this is perfect.

I found the other review so unfair that I decided to write. I bought this CD from Amazon about a year ago. Since then I have never had any problems with it at all. This program is for XP and older versions of windows. It doesn't work for Vista.
Also this OEM version works perfectly for creating an image of your operating system but it doesn't backup or synchronize your personal documents. The full version of Acronis 9 does but the OEM doesn't.
The reason why it is called an image is because it is a single file with a .tib extension. The .tib file is about %40 the size of your original C drive and is an exact copy of C.
If you have you operating system on C and your personal files on D, and all you want is to create an ... Read More:
