After 3 seasons my Flymo has seized up and reading another review site this seems fairly common with this model. Most others seem to have lasted 13 to 24 months.
Back to Qualcast for me then as they are confident enough in their products to give a 2 year labour and 5 year parts guarantee.

The Flymo/mains cable/extension lead thing used to do my head in on a weekend. It was a real chore and the whole process took a couple of hours start to finish. I can now complete the same job to a much higher standard in less than half the time. This thing is the business. Yes, it's expensive but then the competition in terms of performance is really a good petrol mower, not an electric one. We have a steep garden with a lot of steps, so liftability was important (third the weight of a petrol mower). The assembly was easy, the maintenance & general hassle factor is minimal compared to the mains cable mowers or the petrol ones.
