Friday morning, both helicopters arrived, very well packed. Instructions very clear and well, everything looked really easy. Batteries in, and great both helicopter's already had a little charge in them, so lets get it flying.
Whatever we did the copter would not lift off, just imedediatly leaning over to the left and the rotors hitting the floor. Very frustrated and dissapointed. Tried the 2nd copter, exactly the same problem, would not lift, just tilting over to the left and rotors hitting the floor. Having owned 3 PicooZ helicopters, I thought I ought to give the TandemZ a try. It's more versatile than the PicooZ in terms of control, although trickier to master. I found that in a small room, it's easier to control forward motion using the forward/backward trim than with the joystick. The experience is somewhat more exciting for the addition of forward motion to this model; whereas the PicooZ kind of randomly hovers forward, the TandemZ zips around the room. Expect more extreme crashes when it goes wrong!

A great idea, and it was huge fun for about 2 weeks. BUT then the tail rotor needed replacing and in the removal and refitiing procedure suddenly it didn't rotate at all. So one helicopter down... The next one lasted about a month longer. I don't think that's value for money. Toys like scaletrix and lego still work after 20 years!

My picoo z was still flying well with a cracked rear rotor blade but I knew one more nose-dive behind the sofa and my fun would be over. Unfortunately my
over enthusiasm after christmas day for tidying up meant the original spare went in the bin with cracker bits. Luckily these are official Silverlit rotors and a pack of three, which I was very happy about as I can play 'Apocolypse Now' to my heart's content. >>More Details |

Right , Ive got a bit of time to write while the PicooZ charges up again so I thought I would write the sort of review I would like to read if I was contemplating buying one. If your not in for a longish read then i'll summaries it for you now in one sentence;
Yes, buy one but don't expect you'll be Mr/Mrs Airwolf from what is essentially a 2 channel toy that cost £20. With that in mind you can't go wrong. I have only had this little helicopter for an hour or two and i love it, even though ive crashed it. It is easy to control but takes a little time to get used to, the trim buttons are proving too awkward, but i would highly recommend this as a gift to anyone or just for yourself. My only concern is that my cat might kill it or it might kill my cat. I had a larger r/c helicopter a couple of years ago and it was fragile and broke within the first half hour of use, whereas the picooZ apache is light and feels flimsy but is durable. An overall good buy. (im getting another one!)

Got this because my PicooZ had long since died, and even though I've graduate since to a 4-channel co-axial, I missed the little guy. So, got this as a replacement, as I fancied something a little different looking.
As noted by another reviewer, you get no choice in which of the three infrared channels you will receive, which could cause problems if you want to use more than one at a time (is anyone at Amazon listening? Could we have a choice of the A,B or C versions, please?). It flies great, better than my old PicooZ, but whether this is due to a better design, or simply that my original one got a bit mangled as I learnt, I have no idea: Maybe I had better buy a heli-style one as well, just for comparison purposes, of course (ahem!). ...
