"Smart Ass" is, arguably, one of the most basic games you can buy these days - but the best thing is, it's still fun to play.
The difference with this game is that there is no need to fumble around with pages of instructions and rules, or variations of rules - all they have to provide you with is one slip of paper and you're away. It's basically a trivia game - all the family can play, and there is the all-important element of 'all play'- having more than one person looking for the same answer. And it really is good fun for everyone. An excellent purchase that I'm very pleased with. The game is well designed, the instructions are clear and precise enough to get playing straight away.
The complexity of the game is well pitched so that you can pick up the basics straight away, making it very accesible, but the level of strategy is deep enough so that you will develop new tricks and moves along the way to increase it's longevity. It's also incredibly addictive, which is not bad thing as it challenges you to use your brain power not only to plot your own moves, but to try to counteract your opponent also. I must say this is the best looking and extremely detailed figure I have seen so far. Looks as if it has jumped out right from the game itself !! 5 stars to Dr Who Online for shipping this to Norway in about 5 days time.
There is however a tiny thing that I wanted to share, When I opened the package and got Marcus out, I observed that his plastic sideburns were the same colour as his skin, so I had to paint them black using a brush with a very thin tip, and now it looks even more detailed. I actually enjoyed doing that !! I hope they make more figures which come with a little painting exercise just for fun. >>More Details |

If I could award this game 4.5 stars, I would. It is a staggeringly well designed, thoroughly thought out and superbly executed game. That said, it's not one that I take off the shelf all that often.
There is very little luck in Puerto Rico and because of that there are cetrainly 'best' plays to make in any given situation. The more you play the better you get at discerning the best option to take, and that's where the problem lies for me. I would hesitate to label this a family game and I certainly wouldn't like to play with anyone under 12 years old as seating order and skewed player ability can have a huge effect on the outcome.
