I bought this model with the idea of helping my nephew build it and I have to say I have ended up with mixed feelings.
The Good The wooden pieces are nicely finished, no splinters; the instruction booklet details all the pieces, so you can quickly tell if anything is missing; the glue included is of good quality and there's plenty of it and it also includes plans to lay out the initial pieces to ensure they are arranged correctly. The Bad. Although the design itself is good the actual construction concept is poor. Everything has to be glued together. Not only do you have to wait ages for the glue to dry thoroughly but gluing wood flat to flat is never going to be strong. Why not drill a few more holes and ... Read More: >>More Details |

This is classic Lego. I have to admit that I am not a fan of all the new shapes that are only applicable to one model and cannot be easily integrated and re-used by children in their own models.
This is true classic Lego that uses all the standard bricks that we know and love to gradually build up to create a very life-like representation of this car. My 9 year old built this with little or no help, even though the vast majority of bricks are red making the diagrams a little harder to follow than for some models. This is classic Lego. I have to admit that I am not a fan of all the new shapes that are only applicable to one model and cannot be easily integrated and re-used by children in their own models.

This is a great set.It has a catapult that works very well, though the troll with the banner can fall over if it is standing up on carpet instead of a lego baseplate.The dwarve catapult wagon is very durable and does not break easily which is good. The Dwarve does not have a weapon unfortunately but the 1st trolls sword is really cool. I would recommend this set to anybody between the age of 7 - 11 and it would make a great present for any occasion. I think this set is great value for money(like I have already said) and I think I will continue to buy Lego Castle sets.
