The children really enjoyed this (boys and girls) and although they didn't play with it for a long time, still kept returning to it. I think it would be better to get one with more pieces if you intend more than one child to play with it as you quickly run out of them. The set also seems to be well made.

I'll admit it. I'm supposed to be grown up, but sometimes you just need to act like a kid...
This model will take you four or five hours to put together, and it's incredibly absorbing doing so. Dinner wasn't remembered until 11pm. The Lego has changed since I was a kid, with very few of the 'standard' bricks with holes in which i'd call Technic. Instead you've got lots of straight and shaped bars that look like the old fashions bricks with the bobbles chopped off. It's almost like thick mechano, but fun. It's nice to see two complete sets of plans (each set is two books) so you can build multiple models to their plans rather than just having one set of plans and some photos of 'inspiration'. My four year old boy loves diggers, but not in a very creative way. However, this little set makes a convincing digger, and although he needed help to make it up, he can put back bits that fall off. More constructive in many ways.
