I purchased this for my 3 year old son's 2007 christmas present. It cost alot but he has played with it every day. I also invested in rechargable batteries as it's quite thirsty.
New games are quite difficult to source and most have annoying american accents.
His friends all make a bee line for it when they come to play.

My 7 year old son bought this with his birthday money, and it has been a great hit. The ease with which he can build, and experiment with, simple circuits - using the snap fastener links - is superb. Some of the activities are still a bit advanced for him, but I am confident that the durability of the set will ensure it is still in play when he is ready for the next stages.

I love Orchard Hill games and we have owned this one for a couple of years but we have found it is too difficult to gain much fun from it.
The games last too long and my children have always lost patience with it before the games end.
The main problem we find is it involves too many throws of the dice to get to each shop.
From an educational point of view it is potentially brilliant in the way
each child has to pay for each shop item with the correct coins but the added confusion of matching cards and taking the correct card makes it more hard work than fun. To be honest ny children have much more fun playing shops with a pretend till and counting out correct play money.

great for all those little pictures the kids produce; and they can get on and play all by themselves. But beware, the refills aren't cheap and the kids aren't very economical with it if left to their own devices. Have had to throw away a few refills where the roll has snapped and haven't been able to reload it.

This kit allows you to hatch and rear specimens of Triops longicaudatus, the longtail tadpole shrimp. You simply follow the instructions in the kit (it's basically a case of adding some dirt which contains the eggs into a pot of water and putting it somewhere warm and light) and the T. longicaudatus soon hatch and start growing at an almost alarming pace. The relatively short life cycle makes it an excellent teaching aid for teaching anything to do with growth and development. T. longicaudatus are fed on small pellets of fish food or diced vegetables but can (and invariably do!) eat one another. After a few weeks, you're eventually left with just one very large specimen who has eaten all of his or her brethren. Although the triops don't live for ... Read More:

I bought this house for my daughter last december for her 2nd birthday and I don't think a day has gone by when she hasn't played in it. It is beautiful and hardwearing and she is deperate to have the kitchen and 'sofa' and often invites friends round for a 'cuppa tea and a slice of cake'.
