This is a classic gamic which I remember being brilliant from childhood. The theory of it is brilliant, load items until the donkey throws them off but this version is cheap, tacky and it doesn't even buck unless you prod it roughly once all the items are on. The items to load are all very poor quality.
The mechanism to reset the donkey is also difficult to operate. Another game which has been completely ruined by poor production and cost cutting. Don't waste your money on this version. If you have a very young child 'Bounce Bounce Tigger' is much better quality and works slightly better than this game. >>More Details |

Actually we bought this for £1.50 from a charity shop but over the past 2 years it has proved a major hit with the whole family. In contrast to others, our version appears to be reasonably well made and the sticks are both long enough and flexible enough to work perfectly.
The only down side of the game is the time taken to set it up - poking the sticks through the holes. A bit of care and attention pays off here if the marbles are to be retained for as long as possible. We give the kids a section each to fit the stick in and this keeps them amused for several minutes. Marbles falling are accompanied by gales of laughter. My daughter loves Top Trumps and is mad about horses. Obviously, this colours my review!
The photos of all the horse breeds are good quality and nicely down with both a mini pic of the whole horse and the large picture mainly of the head. The categories are interesting and pretty accurate although a little subjective in places! The category regarding the horse's relative beauty has caused some fierce debate in our house.. The addition of a unicorn and a pegasus also proved a little contraversial and became coveted cards for our 5 yr old (who wants to be a unicorn when she grows up...) Having owned and enjoyed mousetrap as a child I bought this game for mine. What a disappointment. The traps did not work and made the game zero fun. The game was in the bin within an hour.

These crazes that go round schools baffle me!
My 5-year old son was given a bag of these at a party and now all the boys in his class have harmless fights with them. I really couldn't see the attraction in this craze, but then I'm not 5. At that age, children will collect anything, so the manufacturer makes a fortune at £1 per bag for a few plastic figures sold to millions of children, backed up by some marketing and then retires to the Bahamas ... You could beat the manufacturers at their own game and start your own craze free. Try collecting shells, shiny stones, pictures from magazines, (even stamp collecting was free in the days when people wrote letters, just tear them off envelopes) >>More Details |

There are thousands of new games every year. Most of them disappear without a trace. Some acquire a devoted but small following. Just a few become classics. Rummikub is one these.
Invented in Romania in 1940, Rummikub is essentially a tile version of the traditional card game Rummy. It didn't really make it internationally until the 1970s, but by 1980 it had won a string of awards and established itself as a great family game. I bought this for my six year old and it is a really fun game. Its simple so you can start playing almost straight away without having to read pages of rules. Even though its a simple concept it doesn't get boring at all and is even fun for the parents!

I bought this last year for my then 5 year old son, but my 8 year old daughter enjoyed it more at the time and now they both play it - very good toy - keeps the mind going - even for the adults. Good for keeping them quiet for a while. Very durable - just don't lose any of the cars, (which shouldn't happen if they pack it away in the provided bag). I am now buying 'hoppers' this xmas in the hopes that it brings as much pleasure and quiet time!
