We discovered Crayola Model Magic recently when my son was in hospital. They use it as it doesn't stick to bandages and can be painted straight away - good for children who are there for a short stay.
It is lightweight and easy to manipulate. It sticks to itself and as soon as you finish shaping it you can paint it. Brilliant activity and my 5 year old loved it. It dries up if you leave it out, so guess you have to be careful to pack it away afterwards.

I purchased two of these, Anakin's and Obi-wan's one for me and and one for my nephew for Christmas...
Assembly time took 1 hour, and I must stress that rushing this kit is going to bring a few busted pieces and tears if you do not pay attention to the instructions. You also may need a craft knife, so I would recommend adult supervision in certain places. While glue is not needed, I recommend a couple of areas that should be glued.
The instructions are simple and clear except for part 4 and 13 whch needs a dab of glue as they can fall into the interior of the model, which would mean reopening the kit and risk snapping the "snap fix" areas to replace the parts.
