I got this for my 3 1/2 year old son and he LOVES it. Something so simple and he has literally spent hours playing with it. Just don't get it in the carpet or hair...it's a nightmare to get out!

hmm the '30' experiments include a good number of experiments that you don't need any of the equipment included in this pack, and you can get good books, usuch as from tony griffiths (not on amazon) that do better with this
And, I can think of other good experiments that could be included with this sset but are not.
However, the experiments that are in it are pretty good.
The broomstick that spins itself anti-clockwise which ever way you spin it is quite good. As is the balancing phoenix, and the various illusions with mirrors, pictures, 3D pictures etc.
I like the spinning circles where the colours change as you spin, but the spinner itself is hard to use- I recommend sticking a toothpick, pencil etc through ... Read More:

We bought this as a present for our daughter (Argos £19.99) as she loves the stars and thought that as it doubles a nightlight, it was perfect! How wrong we were! The product itself looks really good on the packaging, but when you handle it, it feels very cheap and lightweight. The "rotating map" is made from thin plastic which in order for the motor to turn has to be placed EXACTLY correctly. It's a bit pointless really as the focus is so bad you can barely read or see the constellations. The best view we managed was when I stood on a chair holding it about 15cm from the ceiling, not what we expected at all. The commentary on the "accompanying soundtrack" is insane, it talks about the planets which on it's own would be interesting, but ... Read More:

As I type this my 7 year old son is sat quietly at the table trying to dig his dinosaur out, he's been at it for a few days now and absolutley loves it. (So does the rest of the family) Yes, it does get a quite a bit messy so we've put it on a really large tray which does contain most of the dust. He's already asked if we can get another one, when he's finished this one. Great Buy!
