VHS : Short Circuit [1986]

Short Circuit [1986]

starring: Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, Fisher Stevens, Austin Pendleton, G.W. Bailey
directed by: John Badham
April 05, 2004

I must have been eleven years old when I first saw this film, and right from its oddly quirky (and gorgeous) opening music I was hooked.

The idea is not new, nor original. An experimental military robot goes wrong and escapes the institute at which it was built. The institute must then send personell to capture it before it causes any harm. Except that it's not going to cause any harm.

Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport (SAINT) No. 5 is inquisitive, thoughtful and totally unaware that it is a weapon. VHS : High Art [1999]

High Art [1999]

starring: Radha Mitchell, Ally Sheedy, Patricia Clarkson, Gabriel Mann, Charis Michelsen
directed by: Lisa Cholodenko
July 26, 1999

A marvelous film. Beautiful in the real connection between people. To me it doesn't matter that it's lesban love. I can't remember the last time I saw a film that put over falling in love and being in love anywhere near as well. It's not only about love but puts over equally well the underbelly of their artistic scene. Written and directed by Lisa Cholodenko. She is obviously an incredibly sensitive director to bring out of every one of her actors great performances. Radha Mitchell was simply superb but then again everyone here was brilliant. "Greta" doesn't speak clearly but after the film, her performance is understood and is something great in itself. This film heralds the coming of some major talents and reminders of the major talents of those already well ... Read More:

VHS : Sugar Town

Sugar Town

starring: Jade Gordon, John Taylor, Michael Des Barres, Martin Kemp, Larry Klein
directed by: Allison Anders, Kurt Voss

A good film which was well acted by an ensemble cast including John Taylor, Martin Kemp and Rosanna Arquette. John Taylor was a natural in front of the camera, as always, and has great acting ability and great chemistry with Rosanna Arquette who plays his wife. The plot focuses on a group of 80's heart-throb's who are trying to recapture their previous success and was enhanced by the clever use of real life 80's heart-throb's John Taylor of Duran Duran and Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet. Unfortunately although it was well written and acted it left you wanting to know more about the character's and could have done with being longer.

directed by: Rick Rosenthal
April 08, 2002

This film, as everyone else has said, is not to be confused with the will smith bad boy films - but even so its still a good film.
Its a film i would recommend to see as there was never a stage where i thought it was going on too long and getting boring - quite the opposite as it was only when i looked at the time I realised that i'd missed the program i wanted to watch on TV!
