Disney's groundbreaking film "Fantasia", released in 1940, stands today as one of the most incredible films to come out of the studios glittering array of films. It symbolises Walt Disney's pursuit for experimentation in the art form he did so much to create. Disney's dream was to turn Fantasia into a constantly changing film that audiences would return to year on year, much like a live concert, to see different pieces set to music. It never happened... that is until "Fantasia 2000".
In Fantasia 2000, Disney's new generation of animators got their chance to carry on that legacy. It is of course a legacy almost impossible to surmount, but the miracle is that at times they achieve it. Eric Goldberg's animated versions of "Rhapsody in Blue" and Carnival ... Read More:

This review will relate to the DVD which I believe is just the same as VHS.
This film is super rare on Video but does not exist on DVD UK encoding if you own a multi region machine you can by the U.S. version which is just the same film but made for the U.S. region.
I am not a fan of old films there are few I will watch but most will make turn off this film is one I will watch.
If you ride yourself or you just like horses this film will delight you. This film does show its age with the rule that females weren't allowed to race at the National at one time.
This film is a great buy and I urge you to buy this film now or run the risk of never getting a copy as even as you read this it is getting even more rare than you can ... Read More:

Of course I prefer the original version of this story but this movie is made highly enjoyable and entertaining due to the presence of so many famous faces from British and American television. Witness the two cricket fans - who can watch this scene and not think about the two actors in their familiar DAD'S ARMY roles? Cybill Shepherd would later go on to much success in the show MOONLIGHTING and of course Angela Lansbury eventually found worldwide fame for her turn as the female sleuth in MURDER SHE WROTE. Here Lansbury plays a nanny turned spy who is attempting to get back to Britain with some vital information. Set in pre-WWII Germany this movie chronicles the trip of Cybill Shepherds character back to the UK to be reunited with her fiance. On the train she befriends ... Read More:

I recently bought this DVD in a fit of nostalgia. I remember seeing "Anastasia" when it was first released in cinemas ten(!) years ago now, and I blame it entirely for my lasting obsession with all things Russian. I settled down to watch it, fully expecting my childish whim to be satisfied.
Visually, this is an outstanding film. Half its power is in the appearance of St. Petersburg and Paris, both of which are a feast for the eyes: I defy anyone to not want to live in early-Communist Russia after watching this! Joking aside, real attention has been paid to fabrics and buildings and as a result they look truely magical. The characters, too, move well in front of their backdrop, and I have to congratulate the production team for making them and their actions look realistic, ... Read More:

Its light, easy and abit of fun trying to guess 'whodunit'. Something to watch while doin' the ironing, as its enjoyable without requiring too much thought!!
