The trials and tribulations of a washed out FBI agent trying to save a young autistic boy's life, who has accidentally decrypted a top NSA encryption code.
Cast and crew deliver a competent thriller in which which Bruce Willis can save the day in his own way and still be likable if not a bit over the top. The plot (from Ryne Douglas Pearson's thriller "Simple Simon" has been simplified into something quite simple indeed (to the verge of unbelievability), but the real surprise is the 12-year old actor Miko Hughes who - even more than in the book - succeeds in bringing alive the trials of an autistic boy; he even spent time within a real school for autistic children, that also became part of the movie. The chemistry between the boy and ... Read More:

I'm a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan, and there are some of his films which I really liked that most people wouldn't rate very highly. The Sixth Sense though, is simply outstanding! One of the greatest films in modern times, and I couldn't think of many film fans who would disagree with me. I was on the edge of my seat throughout due to the suspense which Shyamalan creates so well; it certainly made me jump a few times. However, the thing that hits you the most is the standard of the acting. Haley Joel Osment, considering his age at the time that this was filmed, played a very moving role and performed better than most adult actors. And what can you say about Bruce Willis? If anything, his role as a calm psychologist was more impressive than his action ... Read More:

I liked this film when I first saw it and now I have changed my mind with repeated watching. Like all Tarantino films, the dialogue between characters is unnatural. It feels like one person talking to themselves. The characters all talk in this faux intelligent geeky way about tiny things and there is no discernable differences between outlook or delivery of the characters words. The story doesn't hang together very well and the use of celebrity cameos is just celuloid cronyism. I fell for the hype, save your time and money and don't buy into this trash. Travolta is a fake, Jackson can't act, QT is annoying, Thurman is lovely, Keitel is cheesey and not at all hard like he makes out. There is too much wrong with this film to call it a classic. It's silly. At least Tom Cruise isn't ... Read More:

Whilst Bruce does a lovely job as always, playing Hudson Hawk seemingly quite seriously, everyone else hams it up something rotten especially Richard E Grant & Sandra Bernhard. Sadly the two extremes don't mesh that well. Perhaps I'm old fashioned in feeling that people that get blown up or fall off tall buildings without a net should not get up and walk away. Bruce has done so many better films avoid this if you can.

There's not much more to my review than the one word title I just gave it. Occasionally touching music from Aerosmith (for Steve's little girl) but the last 20 minutes are dreadful and are so quick-cut that it's like watching an MTV music video that just goes on and on and on. The kids puppet show Space Patrol Space Patrol : The Complete Series (6 Disc Set)handled the very same script much better in the 1960s and - unlike Bruce Willis - Captain Larry Dart of the Galasphere 347 manages to place the explosives and get off the damn rock before it explodes! So much for comparisons of Bruce and a small 60's wooden puppet, though...

This is one of my favourite films. The cast are obviously enjoying being in it as well which makes it nice to watch. There's some wonderful barbed dialogue and the performances are (while maybe a little broad at times) excellent. The reason this gets 4 stars and not 5 is the DVD itself.
It's only a bare bones release. There are a lot of deleted scenes from the film (including an entire subplot featuring Tracey Ullmann) that were cut out! In fact if you look up the trailer (youtube etc) for the film some of these scenes can be seen. Making it extremely frustrating that they are not included here.
In this world of "Special Editions" and constantly repackaged DVD's can't somebody at the marketing department suggest a re-release of "Death Becomes Her"?
