I love the Prisoner of Azkaban.I totally don't have anything I don't like about it. My favourite bit is when Marge blew up like a great big balloon .Hagrids garden has changed in the Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm aged 7 (seven)

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone [2001]

starring: Daniel Radcliffe|Rupert Grint|Emma Watson|Richard Harris

Never read the books so I came with an open mind when watching this film. Like the book, the film is for children but can be enjoyed by adults.

Unfortuneatly this came out at the same time as the excellent 'Lord of the Rings' and it cant really compare with Tolkiens classic (same with the books really) but you can enjoy it on its own merit, especially if you havnt bother reading the novel first. If you have, then it could be an up hill struggle. However, the acting and the characters are enjoyable and the whole movie leaves you interested enough to watch the follow-up movies.

This is certainly a better film than some other recent fantasy films like Narnia, The Golden Compass, The Seeker (Dark is rising) and the truely ... Read More:

VHS : Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets [2002]

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets [2002]

starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Kenneth Branagh, John Cleese
directed by: Chris Columbus
April 11, 2003

This film has a very similar feel to the first movie. It moves at a similar pace and the story is just as mediocre. Its not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, when in a certain mood I can happily watch this movie and enjoy it. However, just like the first film, it is nothing special but just about keeps you interested enough to watch the next installment. I like fantasy and escapism movies and although this is not as good as the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy or as funny as 'stardust' ... it is still better than others such as the terrible Eragorn.

If you like the first film, even just a little, you should like this aswell. Slightly above average movie.

VHS : David Copperfield [1999]

David Copperfield [1999]

starring: Emilia Fox, Pauline Quirke, Maggie Smith, John Normington, Daniel Radcliffe
directed by: Simon Curtis

'David Copperfield', is, by all respects, a brilliant story. It is partly autobiographical, but this gives the story an extra layer. The story of a man's development from boyhood to man is nothing new, and Dickens' novel sets his tale apart because of his emphatic understanding of human nature. This adaptation however, is fairly pedestrian in its handling of human emotions. Trevor Eve is perhaps, a little OTT and there is very little depth to his character, whilst I could say the same to Emilia Fox and Zoe Wannamaker.
The real triumph of this adaption is, I feel, Maggie Smith's performance which is in a league of its own. Betsy Trotwood is a very likeable character anyway, but Smith is superb.
The film is worth a look though, for any period ... Read More:

VHS : The Tailor Of Panama [2001]

The Tailor Of Panama [2001]

starring: Pierce Brosnan, Geoffrey Rush, Jamie Lee Curtis, Leonor Varela, Brendan Gleeson
directed by: John Boorman
May 05, 2003

I've watched and enjoyed "The Taylor of Panama" several times now. It seems to represent co-producer John Le Carré's homage to Graham Greene, Ian Fleming, and a spoof on the spy genre-film in general (It even includes a humorous pot-shot at "Casablanca.").

Geoffrey Rush turns in a moving performance as Harry Pendel, the tailor, whose fantasy life makes him all too vulnerable for the enticements and blackmail of the seedy would-be, but never-actually-was, James Bond--Andrew Osnard, a burnt-out MI-Sixer, banished to Panama as a punishment for peccadilloes in foreign postings [Pierce Brosnan does an engaging satire on his cinematic Bond aplomb.]. Between the fantasies of Pendel (whose dead but not-so-silent partner is portrayed by Harold Pinter) the situation ... Read More:
