Like the title of this review says, this film is a true classic. It tells the story of a young boy who builds a snowman that comes to life at midnight. This film is the only film I have ever seen that is funny, magical and sad at the same time. It is also the first one that I have seen that had no dialogue in, but watching it now, I think that the filmmakers were right not to put any in. Having said that, I am SO GLAD that the enchanting song "Walking in the air" is in it. I am also glad that it is hand-drawn, not computer animated. I know that, if you look at the film very closely, there are small errors, but, because they don't have any effect on the story, they really don't matter.
If this film is not part of your collection of videos ... Read More:

Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas of 1977 was Bing's last TV Christmas special that he prerecorded on September of the same year in England and the last time Bing sang to the world White Christmas-exclude the last British concerts.Bing died on October,14 of 1977 on a golf course near Madrid,Spain. This was again a real family Christmas with wife and kids and lot of old and new carols. This is a brilliant but nightmarish film.Based on a sequence of articles by two German journalists, later made into a book,it shows the decline of a teenage girl as she enters the drug subculture of West Berlin in the 1970s.The actors are mainly amateurs, but they come up with impressive performances.
The soundtrack by David Bowie(who lived in Berlin in the late 1970s)is great, with the jolly, optimistic sound of "Heroes" at the start, then,as the film goes on,being replaced by the eerie electronic sounds of the "Low" and "Heroes" albums. His own cameo performing a fine rendition of "Station to Station"is worth a watch too.
If you have teenage children,it will be your worst nightmare come true, but you may find they enjoy it too(my 17 year old neice ... Read More:

The transfer of this film on to dvd is a disaster. The lush jungle settings and the colourful flashbacks are lost here. This is a crying shame for it was this lushness of colour that made the film such a visual delight. The soundtrack also suffers from unintentional breaks. On the positive this is still unique among war movies and a definite must have for all war movie buffs. Aside from Labrynth it also lets us see what a capable if unremarkable actor David Bowie is.
