VHS : The Mummy Returns [2001]

The Mummy Returns [2001]

starring: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, Oded Fehr
directed by: Stephen Sommers
August 04, 2003

I bought this film after watching the first, and it is not as good. But that doesnt matter because i wasnt expecting it ot be. The storyline is nonsense and the animation of the Scorpion King was dreadful but they brought back much loved charcters and Rick and Evie's 8 yeard old son Alex. The fight scenes were good and the little pygmies mummies were great.
The thing that brought it down a star was was the fact, they sacrificed the horror like in the first one, to make it a 12 rating.
Overall, I felt the film was just a simple film, brought out after the sucess of the first but enjoyable to watch.

VHS : WWF - Royal Rumble 1998

WWF - Royal Rumble 1998

starring: Shawn Michaels, Mark Calaway, Dwayne Johnson, Ken Shamrock, Brian James
directed by: Kevin Dunn
April 06, 1998

The actual royal rumble match in itself was solid and a superb performance by stone cold who was set to dominate the industry after this for a while, also noteworthy is the entrance of a young wrestler called rocky maivia who would develop into the rock ,the single greatest thing that happened to wrestling in recent years, however this was 1997 and the wwf didnt have the talent that they would later have, they were chasing wcw and losing at this juncture and it showed, although i was always wwf, always, this has not aged well.
Staying with the actual royal rumble if i may,the dross that made its way to the ring at times was shameful, wrestlers that were never gonna have a wwe career,i didnt see the point in all the masked mexican wrestlers, about 5 of them ... Read More:

After a great WrestleMania how will the aftermath affect all the matches and the competitors in something that will be a night to remember.

Tag Team Title Match
Edge and Christian vs Road Dogg and X-Pac 5/10
A good tag team match, started of a bit slow and the crowd were really into this match. This had lots of near falls but it was nothing spectacular.

Light Heavyweight Title Match
Dean Malenko vs Scotty 2 Hotty 6/10
A nice match by some good lightweight competitors, the only thing about this match is that is went on a bit too long.

Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan vs The Acolytes 4/10
Slow and boring, nothing else to say.

Hardcore Title 6 Way Match
Crash Holly vs Tazz vs Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy vs Hardcore Holly ... Read More:

Fans of the Mummy film series will enjoy this. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised.
It's a simple story, acted out by a great cast. The Rock isn't a bad actor at all, and leads the film well.
There are many great action sequences too along with good special effects. Worth a watch!

directed by: Kevin Dunn

Well this is Definitely a must buy if you enjoy the dark years of the WWF (WWE) The PPV has a whole array of great superstars on the card. My two Favourite matches are as follows. The Boiler room brawl which features Mankind and The Big Show. Its a great laugh from start with a broom, to finish with alot of poles! The Second fight is the bout between Hardcore Holly and Al snow. This fight contained some really funny spots including a referee conducting the three count in a skip full of rubbish....ahem. Theis PPV also features, Stonecold Vs The Rock. The undertaker Vs Ken Shamrock, The Brood Vs The Acolytes and Midian. New Age Outlaws Vs Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett and X-Pac Vs HHH. A really good addition to your 1999 video libary.

Andy.
