I watched The Exorcist 2 weeks ago and everyone I knew said it was terrifying so before watching I expected to get scared, well I didn't. I barely jumped.
I understand that The Exorcist scared the hell out of people when the film was released in 1973 as the special effects were advanced for the time, but now they look dated and there almost laughable.
I'm not saying The Exorcist isn't a good film because it is good but it's just weird, not scary.

Wow - I sat down with my teenage son to watch a movie, and I must say I've just finished watching it and if I was ever tempted at my age to take drugs again, this film would certainly put me off - it was mean and gritty and scarey and honest and all those things together with powerful images and I wish every teen out there would get it and watch it before they take their first line of coke.
I loved the links between the mum and the son, drugs whatever shape or form can cause dreadful harm. a fab film just not one to watch before bedtime. xx

This was just the type of film I love to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my feet up, a cup of hot chocolate, and packet of gypsy creams.
I enjoyed every bit of this film - the quilters' stories of their past loves and heartaches as they work on the quilt; student Finn's uncertainty about her own love life and the decision she finally made; and not least the glimpses of quilts in some background scenes. But what sacrilege to trail the beautiful wedding quilt in the dirt!
I will enjoy watching this film again and again.

This is one of the best films ever made. I am a happy-ending person, and this film, despite the intrinsic tragedy, leaves the viewer inspired with a sense of hope and warmth. There is no gratuitous tragedy as in for instance City of Angels, and you won’t get railroaded emotionally as in Somersby. It’s comparable to the English Patient in terms of excellent acting, beautiful story and tragedy that can be understood. The main character, a young woman named Percy, is pure and real, like Maggie in Million Dollar Baby. After seeing this film, you are grateful that you did.

I feel like the boy in the story 'The Emperor's New Clothes' daring to shout out that in fact everybody else is praising nothing at all.
I finally watched this film because I was off work sick and had nothing better to do, and really can't understand why it's so famous.
The son is nothing but a precocious, indulged, whining, annoying brat.
The music was dire the first time round, and not something I wanted to re-encounter (Mott the HOOPLE? Marc BOLAN? )
I never cared about what happened to Alice: she was so stupid she decided to drive to Monterey from Socorro, New Mexico, by going in entirely the wrong direction. To go from Phoenix (a day's drive from her home, not much of a slog!) to Monterey via Tuscon is laughably pathetic. ... Read More:

Alice Green (Meg Ryan) and her husband, Michael (Andy Garcia) are a happily married young couple, until Alice's secret drinking problem is exposed. Alice goes to rehab and when she comes home, she and Michael don't know how to act with one another without the help of alcohol.
This is a really good romantic drama dealing with the terrible ways alcoholism affects a couple and their young children. Oh, my goodness - that Andy Garcia can act and he's quite the dreamboat, too. He's so utterly convincing as the tortured husband that it makes me wonder why I haven't seen him in more leading roles. Meg Ryan, on the other hand, never convinced me she was suffering with guilt or shame or anything; her sunny smile and angelic face were always the same...perky, perky, PERKY! Two precocious ... This is yet another spin on the over-done romance-tragedy genre of film, and Joel Schumacher can do, and has done, better. If you want an easy-to-cry-to film for a girly night in, this film's fine. If you want a decent film, with unique style and meaning, try Joel Schumacher's other films.
Julia Roberts's let's herself down with this character who has little individuality, although does act well throughout, a similar statement can be said for her co-star.
This is a wonderful film. It makes you laugh and makes you cry. There are really only 2 people in it and the acting is outstanding.I've had it for many years after taping it one night but I now want to buy it on DVD.
