VHS : Beauty And The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (Disney)

Beauty And The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (Disney)

starring: Paige O'Hara, Robby Benson, Jerry Orbach, David Ogden Stiers, Bernadette Peters
directed by: Andrew Knight
November 17, 2003

Although the events of this film sit within the time-scale of the original, it is an interesting exploration of some of the untouched themes from its predecessor.

The Beast's dislike of Christmas is assumed by the audience to be simple 'Scrooge'-ism. As the story unfolds, we discover a deeper, more personal rationale for his aversion.

The addition of new characters - Forte (voiced by Tim Curry) and Fife (Paul Reubens - aka Pee-Wee Herman) - gives the story room to expand.

Ultimately, though, this one is strictly for the real fans - or at least, completists! :)

VHS : Pocahontas (1995) (Disney)

Pocahontas (1995) (Disney)

starring: Mel Gibson, Linda Hunt, Christian Bale, Irene Bedard, Judy Kuhn
directed by: Eric Goldberg, Mike Gabriel
March 13, 2000

With Pocahontas as an ancestor, I saw this movie in grade school and then followed it up with mountains of reading and research when it first came out. Disney has been well known for their distortion of stories and tale, but that generally doesn't bother me. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite movie of all time even though it differs drastically from the original tale. Disney went too far, however, when they decided to tackle American history and then twist it for their means. A few being, the aging of Pocahontas to make her old enough for romance (she would have been 12 or 13), the supposed love affair with John Smith, and the entire political correctness of the story defile an important part of our history (ie. Jamestown the first permanent ... Read More:

VHS : The Rescuers Down Under (Disney) [1991]

The Rescuers Down Under (Disney) [1991]

starring: Bob Newhart, Eva Gabor, John Candy, Tristan Rogers, Adam Ryen
directed by: Hendel Butoy, Mike Gabriel
May 12, 1997

This sequel to the rescuers was something special to disney, as this is the first sequal of feature animation to also become a feature. This is currently the only sequel to date to become a feature; this shows disney had great expectations and faith in this film.

This film has a similar story style to the original film, where a kid gets captured and its up to the rescue aid society to come to the rescue. The character cast in this film is amazing, and the animators do an incredible job at portraying emotion and expression through them.

This film also, as many may not know, include disney first 3d visual effects in 2d animation. There is a flying sequence at the start which is actually 3D which at the time of release was breathtaking, and was ... Read More:

This is the greatest disney film of all time. It is full of passion, love and a heartwarming tale as old as time. This classic is enchanted with all the magic of disney's great artistry and a superb cast. Plus the story of Belle and all her magical adventures in the castle of the beast.

VHS : Aladdin And The King Of Thieves (1996) (Disney)

Aladdin And The King Of Thieves (1996) (Disney)

starring: Scott Weinger, Robin Williams, John Rhys-Davies, Linda Larkin, Gilbert Gottfried
directed by: Tad Stones
January 13, 1997

Before I begin, I'd just like to clarify that this is the third Aladdin film. It was always Disney's intentions to have an Aladdin trilogy - there are NOT five films!

In this third outing Aladdin and Jasmine finally get married only to be disrupted by the forty thieves who's leader just so happens to be Aladdin's father...

I thought the story of this film was very good and the humour is just fantastic (provided by the genie in Robin Williams naturally). Unlike other Disney sequels all of the original voice cast return. Some new characters are established also, rather than having to rely on old villains. These are most notably the forty thieves who are just hilarious.

After sequels like 'Return to Neverland' and 'Jungle Book 2', you'll be asking yourself ... Read More:

VHS : The Return Of Jafar (Disney) [1994]

The Return Of Jafar (Disney) [1994]

starring: Jonathan Freeman, Scott Weinger, Dan Castellaneta, Gilbert Gottfried, Jason Alexander
directed by: Alan Zaslove, Tad Stones, Toby Shelton
January 31, 1995

In this sequel to Disney's Aladdin, the young 'street-rat' and his friends, Abu, Jasmine, Rajah and Sultan (not forgetting Genie) are back and battling against the evil Jafar. He has returned as an all-powerful genie (as we all remember from the original) and out for revenge.
The graphics and animation may not be as good as in the first film, and Dan Castellaneta is no substitute for Robin Williams, but this is a worthy sequel. Actually, Castellaneta's effort is praiseworthy.
I personally love it for the way it handles the complex character of Iago and emphasises the importance of morals and friendship - and courage. I can recommend this film for anyone who truly appreciates this kind of story.

VHS : A Goofy Movie (Disney) [1996]

A Goofy Movie (Disney) [1996]

starring: Bill Farmer, Jason Marsden, Jim Cummings, Kellie Martin, Rob Paulsen
directed by: Kevin Lima
June 09, 1997

This movie is based on the series known as Goof Troop and introduced my favorite female in the show history Roxanne Max's first true love.

I must admit the artist made Roxanne beauiful this movie really makes use of Goofy's name.

Crisis soon starts as Max and Goofy head off on fishing trip but Max needs to get to New York and rock concert a impress Roxanne Max's is the classic teenager moody and sullen as Goofy drags away from Roxanne.

The whole movie is about how Max will hide the biggest lie he has ever told from begin revealed.
