In one of Walt Disney's classics, Bagheera the panther offers to take Mowgli, a young boy, to the man village before the evil tiger Shere Khan gets to him.
This family adventure is a classic, made so by a beautiful sentimental plot about human emotions, including loyalty, sensitivity and most importantly love. And these human emotions are decoded through the animals of the jungle.
With the enchanting and fun loving actions of Baloo the bear and the honest and hard actions of Bagheera, do audiences get that true feel of the human spirit, and the facts of life, to have fun, but to face the truth as well, which is also reflected in some of the most catchy and enjoyable songs ever created for a Disney picture.
This fine movie is worth watching just for Laurence Olivier at his sophisticated sexiest. He exudes British qualities of confidance, pragmatism and eccentricity. The enigma surrounding his dark moods unfolds as the story continues. There is however, a lot more than him that is good in this film.
Beautiful, doe eyed Joan Fontaine is well cast as his un-named second wife. The character is overwhelmed and out of place as the lady of a great house. Director Alfred Hitchcock told Joan that the rest of the cast hated her, to get that awkward feeling from her acting. This was hardly true, although Laurence had wanted his wife Vivien Leigh for the role.
Hitchcock shows his skill and mastery of suspense here. This is an early ... Read More:

For a film made in 1950 this is a surprisingly cynical movie, portraying as it does the back-stabbing and general cut-throat way the movie business creates huge stars, or at a wim might ignore great talent.
Anne Baxter plays the little girl lost Eve Harrington who manages to worm her way into the life of the great star Margo Channing (Bette Davis). Initially Eve just helps Margo out with dd jobs, but little by little she makes her way up the ladder to success (I'm giving nothing away here as you will find out when you watch the start of the film).
The script and performances are uniformly excellent. The acting honours are split between Bette Davis and George Sanders, who both have that rare gift of dominating a scene without really ... Read More:

One of the most absorbing and suspenseful of Hitchcock movies ever! No matter how many times this is viewed, it's still as fresh and as riveting as the first time around!
Ray Milland plays a husband who's been cheated upon by his rich wife. To get his revenge upon she and her lover, and to acquire his 'premature' inheritance, he plans her murder - but things go terribly wrong when everything backfires, and all over the most minute of details...
Grace Kelly stars as the unfortunate 'target', and Anthony Dawson plays the unusually 'nice' and handsome murderer to be (he can strangle me anytime!!) The reactions of some of the characters in this film are startlingly 'natural'. A classic example is how after being 'coerced' ... Read More:

There are soundtracks and there are orchestrations. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is neither. Some movies reach the haunting by cinematography, others by acting. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," requires neither. Herrmann does it all.
There is a strain of person who finds the melancholy the fairest flower for its deep emotion and sweet beauty, and there are those who have no sense of it whatsoever. If you are of the first persuasion, then this soundtrack will fill you with sublime longing as few other things can. In, "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," Herrmann created a theme that surpasses this excellent film all on its own. It's a great movie, make no mistake, Gene Tierney shines above every other role she's played, however her foil isn't Rex Harrison at all; it's Herrmann's scoring. ... Read More:
