What a charming film with the late great Bob Peck. I knew nothing about this film, even though it was shot near where I come from in Keighley, until I read about it in MADE IN YORKSHIRE. It is also based on true events which happened in Yorkshire.
I had thought it must be dire otherwise I would have heard about. How wrong I was. Was it shown in the cinema ? I have a job tracking it down but found a copy in the Keighley lending library.

This is my favourite film, and has been for years. I've seen it at least 200 times and can repeat all the lines and the songs throughout the film. I know, really sad! I can't help it though. It's such a feel good funny film with a great soundtrack. If you haven't seen it, you're missing out!

I bought this because I have always wanted to own it. It is a brilliant set to watch and you will laugh and laugh, Whoopi is the best at these kind of films with humour and control over the charactor she plays. The highest respect to her.

I had this film on video tape, and it has been watched, and loaned out to friends so many times, it's worn out. So, I had to but the DVD!!!!!!!!!!!
The special edition DVD is fascinating because if you already love the film, you are given an insight into the mind of the writer. I also loved watching the interview with the composer, being a keen piano player. The film is quite dark, dramatic and moody and the music is beautiful, matching perfectly the whole feel of the movie. Oh, and Holly Hunter actually plays the piano! Buy it!You won't be disappointed.

...this happens. Sort of.
There isn't much of a plot, but when you see Satan's youngest kid doing some Guitar Hero stuff in his bedroom, you know it has to be plain funny.
The repeat gag of Nicky getting killed by accident - generally his own mistakes - works very nicely, and even better when he accidentally lands in Heaven and discovers his air-head mum and her best mates, who are angels.
Beefy could have been done a little better, and just looks like a cheap copy of Frank the Pug from Men in Black.
Devilishly funny though, and loved the Ozzy cameo!

Two Evil Eyes threatened to be another disappointment from Dario Argento, especially since the first half of this modernized Edgar Allen Poe double-header, The Facts in the Case of Mr Valdemar, directed by George A. Romero, felt like a competent but uninspired network TV compilation episode. So it's a real surprise just how much dark fun Argento has with The Black Cat, playfully riffing both on Poe's other short stories and classic movies (there's even a subtle Psycho moment where Martin Balsam's nosey neighbor finds himself at the foot of another staircase looking for another missing woman) as Harvey Keitel's crime photographer - first seen photographing the aftermath of a Pit and the Pendulum incident - finds his life going to Hell when he gets rid of the girlfriend's cat. It's ... Read More:

Don’t try to see anything logical in that film. It is just a big joke. Some women are like that. All men die around them, kill themselves, kille one another, in one word drop dead. That girl is that type. And she is as innocent as a newborn babe, and yet we will never know who was guilty first, who lied first, who put the poison out first, who overdosed who first, who was cut up into pieces first, who was buried in concrete first, who was drowned first, if any, in one word a real slaughter on a completely deserted island. But how does she manage to attract so many flies to her honeypie ?
