I actually watched this when my (bonkers)GCSE music teacher decided we should see it as a class on our last lesson before Christmas...I was not impressed. Having seen the advert countless times, I'd decided it was immature, over heavy on toilet humour and used too much try-too-hard slapstick. I didn't want to watch it. But how glad am I that I did!
This film is brilliant. It is laugh out loud pure genius (and made me want to believe in Santa again). Basically, a baby from an orphanage snuck into Santas sack on Christmas Eve and was taken back to the North Pole, where he was adopted by the elves and named Buddy. Buddy grew much taller than everyone else, couldn't make toys, was rejected by the other elves and all that tragedy ... Read More:

I first saw these films when they were aired on channel 5 a while ago but only saw about half of the first film, all of the second and none of the the third one. So the incentive was there to buy them, after what i had seen of them i thought it would make a great addition to my dvds. I wasnt wrong either. Though to be honest i couldnt see some of my friends either watching them or buying them, as these films aren't mindless action and explosion fests. They take time to watch, literally and mentally. If you really want to get the best from them, set aside a night where you can watch them in peace to soak up the class of them directing, script, acting and story. They are completely different to the more modern gangster/mafia films. The time is taken ... Read More:

This film is probably my most favorite film of all time. It's got everything you'd expect from Adam Sandler and Damon Wayans, the two funniest guys in hollywood. Anyone 'should' love this film, it's amazing in every way. The film had great comedy in it and great action.
Its just simply the most overated film i have ever seen. I dont want to go into the facts of this because i will be here all week. Just read the other 1 star review because they seem to have gone it detail.

On the one hand, Misery is an excellent film. Many - if not all - of the characters are well cast, and very true to the book.
However, it has far less depth than the novel. For example, the book being written inside the book/film actually has a great deal of reference to the situation the author finds himself in, obviously basing the book around his life as Annie Wilkes' hostage.
In summary, read the book first. The film is pretty epic on its own, but it could have been so much better with the addition of a few extra scenes depicting the content of the novel being written, which would have shown more of Annie Wilkes' persona and added a great deal of irony to the situation.
this is a top quality starstudded war film based on one of ww2 great cock ups that cost many lives. its superbly acted with loads of top actors there is plenty of action and stunning scenery , its very realistic and is deserving a place among the best war films made.

John Wayne plays Cole Thornton a hired gun who turns down a job to work for Bart Jason, as this would mean fighting his old mate J.P. (Robert Mitchum). In the end he fights with J.P. and Mississipi (James Caan) against Jason.
Essentially this is virtual remake of Rio Bravo, and it isn't as good. Mitchum takes the Dean Martin role and James Cann the Ricky Nelson role. However Howard Hawks was a great filmmaker and he manages to make this a worthwhile and very entertaining movie in its own right.
John Wayne is starting to show his age in this film. He was close to 60 when it was made, and Mitchum who was 10 years younger steals the film from Wayne. The kill or cure drunk cure for J.P. is probably the best scene in the film, and Mitchum plays it brilliantly. ... Read More:

UNCUT magazine called this a forgotten classic and awarded it 5 stars. I bought the dvd and in this writers opinion this 1975 movie is a so-so effort from Peckinpah which deals with a CIA agent (Caan) doublecrossed by his turncoat former partner (Duvall). The espionage theme is an interesting change of pace, but the film has a detached feeling and lacks the personal touch of Peckinpah's better work. The action scenes are well executed, however i was confused after the first 30 minutes of the movie when kung-fu fighters appear from nowhere and attack each other in an airport. There are more silly plot developments, and there is also silly comedy which seems out of place. This is not a decent action film; it is sub-par for Peckinpah.

PLEASE NOTE: This review refers to 'Funny Girl' only.
It's the first time I've ever seen this picture, and as I'm not a big Streisand fan, I did not think I would be that impressed, but I was pleasantly surprised!
Barbra Streisand is extremely funny as 'Funny Girl' Fanny Brice, and she also plays the sad scenes with equal sincerity. However, the film was spoilt for me at about halfway through, when someone held up a live Lobster to Streisand's character and she responds; 'start boiling water' - call me silly, but this ruined it for me... Why something so horrid should have been brought into a musical and light-hearted film of this type is quite beyond me...
Left a nasty taste in my mouth, and so I could not bring myself to give this five stars...
