Dirty Dancing (1987)

starring: Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes, Jack Weston
directed by: Emile Ardolino
July 01, 2002

Dirty Dancing is a movie that is hyped up to the limit. It is recognised as one of the best chick-flicks and has somehow entered the books as a classic that you simply have to see. With all this in mind I only got around to watching this movie a year ago and have since watched this three times, each time hoping to discover what it is that seems to make this movie special and unique but I am sorry to say that I fail to see what's so great about this movie.

The story is simple. Baby (Jennifer Grey) is on holidays with her parents. She meets local dance teacher Johnny (Patrick Swayze), she learns the passions of dance while also learning a few things about love and life at the same time.

Undoubtedly the best thing about ... Read More:

American Flyers [1985]

starring: Kevin Costner, David Marshall Grant, Rae Dawn Chong, Alexandra Paul, Janice Rule
directed by: John Badham

I have to confess i really like this film. The story introduces a few fun twists to keep you guessing and the cycling footage is well judged, tense and interesting. The score has my feet tapping most of the way through (ok i am a cyclist!). One to keep, and to come back to now and then. A little predictable perhaps, but different and fun.

i bought this film by chance. i actually went to my local video rental to buy some dvd's but couldnt find the one i wanted so i bought this not expecting much. But i was pleasantly suprised that it was actually a really good film.

the actors did really well, i always liked ben affleck, even the two little boys in the film were really good. it's definately a film that deserves more recognition than it got i think. definately a film u should put in your dvd collection.

Red Dawn [1984]

directed by: John Milius

I cant reccommend Red Dawn enough.Easily the most laughable film ever made.Shocking propaganda and hilariously cheesey and wooden performances from all invovled.Frighting that it was ever supposed to be taken seriously.Patricks "tormented" Lawerance of Arabia leader type character is worth the asking price alone. The film is constant throughout with each scene just as absurd and humourous as the preceeding one.A true classic, fun for all the family.10/10

VHS : Ferris Bueller's Day Off [1987]

Ferris Bueller's Day Off [1987]

starring: Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Jones, Jennifer Grey
directed by: John Hughes
July 03, 2000

A classic 80s comedy, and a film very close to my heart. I was at the right age to appreciate it when it was first released, and its been a constant companion ever since. What boy wouldn't want to be Ferris Bueller after watching this?! He takes everything to the extreme, and somehow manages to get away with it.

A brilliantly funny film, with an amzing soundtrack - whats not to like?
