Not particularly for Lethal Weapon fans but a lovely gentle unfolding of a gentle story. It begins in a damp depressing London and end up in beautiful Italy. People, as well as the scenery are transformed and the memorable performances of Polly Walker and Miranda Richardson make for a memorable cinamatic experience. Buy the movie, you'll want to watch it more than once (or twice!).

I once had to do this as coursework in school, I (against my will) have seen the whole movie and the only word I can choose to describe this is, BORING.

This is probably about ten percent of the original dialogue, and therefore it rolls along at a terrific pace. Having Richard arrive in a tank through a wall, must be the most dynamic entrance of any character in a Shakespeare play. You can suddenly see the origins of the pantomime Wicked Uncle figure in this piece as well, when he croons over the departing Little Princes 'So wise so young they say do never live long, come-let's to supper.' Fabulous! Don't miss it.

One of the funniest specials ever made, but because of some unfortunate editing of this DVD issue you never find out just why the workhouse orphans are so looking forward to Easter...

All performances in this film are remarkable, but especially Linus Roache stands out with a superb performance, as the man with a conscience, who made it possible for Winston Churchill to expose Chamberlains aid to Nazi Germany.
I think the second one had more realistic feeling to it, what with her torn feelings being shown between Cleaver and Darcy. I felt for her particually when she was in jail and Mark visited and she reached out for his hand and he didn't respond. When I saw it in the cinema I was quiet shocked at the Rebecca and Bridget moment on the door step but hugely suprised. The signs were all there. I wonder in the 3rd Bridget film she tells Mark of her little kiss with Rebecca. All in all the film was good and now I look forward to the next.

Well fellow Doctor fans, it's all there. The crashing synthesisers. The maniacal laughter. The bad sets. The corridors. The plot twists. The Master. The Daleks. The drama. The tension! This little effort is a gem that the Doctor would wear proudly, and better still its all in a good cause. A loving satire that will have every true fan rolling on the floor. A magnificent tribute to a genre that will hopefully never die...I won't spoil it by telling you the end, but let me just say that Joanna Lumley gets my vote. As for the rest of the tape, its devoted to Doctor sketches by other greats of British comedy, and its just as good. French and Saunders were clearly connoisseurs. Highly recommended.

Unlike the superb BBC serialisation that was faithfully based on Mary Norton's book from the 50's, this film has been updated and an American TV star brought in. Unfortunately the script and plot isn't really quite as good as the original book and the out of place slapstick does reduce the tension somewhat. My son (9) and daughter (11) really liked this film, but I preferred the two BBC 'borrowers' series, first screened in 1993 and 1994 (make sure you get the two DVD set, series one and two - 6 hours of quality children's TV). The BBC series is far darker, being played straight with no slapstick and despite the Borrower's amusing antics and the witty script, it's got many quite tense moments and is all the better for it. The special effects in the film (and much ... Read More:

This is my favourite film of all time. I know that there are better films, with bigger budgets and stars and all that, but this one is so well written and put together. For me Neil Jordan is a genius. I have watched this film numerous times, in various languages - my girlfriend is German and we each have a copy so sometimes we watch the film in English and sometimes in German, and I once caught it on the TV in Italy dubbed into Italian! The big surprise is a surprise no longer but we still find that scene superb. Unlike some other reviewers we find Jaye Davidson's performance convincing, but then my girlfriend shares Dil's secret so we know something about the subject. Overall a film to watch at least once and one that you may come back to again and again as we do.
