Why is Amazon displaying the same reviews for the region 1 and 2 version of this film. The region 1 version (blue cover) totally outclasses the region 2 version (white cover)!!

First let me say I absolutely love this film, and I'd give it an easy 5 star review. However this review is for the region 2 version (white cover).

I suppose this is the one for me to review, seeing as how I'm from the UK.

Sadly this version is truely awful!!

First off, the sound and picture quality is crap. There's no way this is 'digitally mastered'.

Secondly, the overall presentation is poor, no special features in sight. As if they couldn't be bothered to make an effort for this package. They didn't ... Read More:

VHS : Coming To America [1988]

Coming To America [1988]

starring: Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Madge Sinclair
directed by: John Landis
May 06, 2002

...not that NORBIT rubbish!
- Golden Child? Great
- Dr Doolittle(s)? No probs
- Daddy Day Care? Good
- 48 Hours and BHills Cop aren't my cup-of-tea but are classic Murphy.
- COMING TO AMERICA is the best!
- NORBIT is far and away the closest to 'Donkey' that Eddie Murphy has come to (and that says something considering he voiced 'Donkey' in the Shrek films which were great!)
If you like Eddie Murphy, watch Coming To America again - do not watch Norbit! And if you're reading this after watching Murphy in Norbit and liked it (shudder!) then don't watch this because it is a completely different actor!!!

VHS : Two Evil Eyes [1989]

Two Evil Eyes [1989]

starring: Adrienne Barbeau, Harvey Keitel, Ramy Zada, Bingo O'Malley, Jeff Howell
directed by: Dario Argento, George A. Romero
July 12, 1993

Two Evil Eyes threatened to be another disappointment from Dario Argento, especially since the first half of this modernized Edgar Allen Poe double-header, The Facts in the Case of Mr Valdemar, directed by George A. Romero, felt like a competent but uninspired network TV compilation episode. So it's a real surprise just how much dark fun Argento has with The Black Cat, playfully riffing both on Poe's other short stories and classic movies (there's even a subtle Psycho moment where Martin Balsam's nosey neighbor finds himself at the foot of another staircase looking for another missing woman) as Harvey Keitel's crime photographer - first seen photographing the aftermath of a Pit and the Pendulum incident - finds his life going to Hell when he gets rid ... VHS : Lock Up [1990]

Lock Up [1990]

starring: Sylvester Stallone, Donald Sutherland, John Amos, Sonny Landham, Tom Sizemore
directed by: John Flynn
June 19, 2000

A Stallone movie that is better than you think. Stallone is a short timer in the pen and is transfered to a more secure prison. There he is harassed and tortured by the revenge seeking warden(Donald Sutherland). The part was of course molded for Mr. Stallone, but on the other hand the accomplished Mr. Sutherland is more bland and boring than fearsome.

American Flyers [1985]

starring: Kevin Costner, David Marshall Grant, Rae Dawn Chong, Alexandra Paul, Janice Rule
directed by: John Badham
June 02, 2003

I have to confess i really like this film. The story introduces a few fun twists to keep you guessing and the cycling footage is well judged, tense and interesting. The score has my feet tapping most of the way through (ok i am a cyclist!). One to keep, and to come back to now and then. A little predictable perhaps, but different and fun.

VHS : Night of the Twisters [1998]

Night of the Twisters [1998]

starring: Devon Sawa, Amos Crawley, John Schneider, Lori Hallier, Laura Bertram
directed by: Timothy Bond
March 10, 1997

In one night, a small Nebraskan community is ravaged by a series of tornados. Against this background is the story of a teenage boy, his family and friends, and his difficulty in forming a relationship with his stepfather.
This movie is well acted and the situations are realistic, so don't expect loads of overdone special effects. There are enough here to give this a tense and emotional atmosphere, and you can care about the characters because they are decent ordinary people doing their best to help each other under extreme conditions. I especially liked the lady playing the boy's grandmother.
In some respects it has a similar feel to 'The Waltons' TV series. I'm not sure if this is a plus or a minus, but either way this is a very watchable movie.
The sound ... Read More:
