I am a collector of Clyde Puffer memorabilia and I found the Video most amusing and typical of these "Wee" boats. When I was an office boy (In 1941) for a glasgow shipping company I had the pleasure of sailing "Doon the water" to Port Glasgow where it was having a re-fit.. she was called the Jennie and is illustrated in Dan Mcdonald's book "The Clyde Puffer" page 33, she was wrecked in the island of Eigg in 1954--- Whilst on Holiday on Pembrokeshire last year I had a Serendipity experience when I found a model 14 inches in length with every detail shown of the vessel in a shop in St.Davids--- I have now purchased The Vital Spark 2 video and again look forward to seeing that. I was wanting to watch this film for ages, and it was probably the anticipation that made me think it would be divine. I have to say, I was originally a little disappointed. But looking back, it's really a pretty great classic movie. Good film, good extras. Worth buying!

I have a copy of the album, "Highland Voyage -- A Voyage aboard a Puffer", handed down to me from the wife's Aged Scottish Aunt. It's the soundtrack to the second episode of this video. The album relates in song a Puffer's voyage from Glasgow to the Isle of Skye (via the Crinan Canal) and back again (side one), where the crew entertain at a ceilidh (side two). The comic, self-effacing songs are quite good! The audience at the ceilidh suspects they're being made fun of too. It's all in good fun. Made in '64 I believe. It interested me enough in puffers that I bought a copy of "The Light in the Glens" to learn more about "the rise and fall of the puffer trade." I'd buy a copy of the video if 'twas available (and in a format playable in Canada). It's ... Read More:
