as someone from Edinburgh who lived and went to plenty of the places mentioned in Trainspotting i have to say read the book the book instead which has the full content and message rather than just a comic short hand for what was happening at the time. It made fashionista fools think that taking hard drugs was a nice activity and gave them kudos and brought in too many people too Edinburgh looking for that lifestyle.
I have never managed it all the way through and think it is just an alternative advert for Britain for the naively trendy or people who misguided enough to think that the pathos and dark humor wasn't there to balance the story...great cast though and on the whole well acted but an overrated footnote to late 90's Britain

Eastenders is the nations favourite soap opera. This VHS brings you inside the world of Walford. It fetaures many classic moments such as Grant hearing the tape from Phil and Sharon, Phil torching the vic and of cource Den handing Angie divorce papers for a Christmas present! Eatenders has not been very good in recent years (except for Dens return and Alfie Moon) so buy this and be reminded of the glory years.

I chose the title for this review from the famous poem by Wilfred Owen, because this film is poetry in itself. It's portrayal of the lives of the patients at Craig Lockhart hospital is excellent, and the characters are all strong. As Siegfried Sassoon assists Wilfred Owen in pursuing his natural talent for poetry to use it to write about the war, the audience follows the stories of Dr. Rivers, a psychiatrist doing his best to help the shell-shocked soldiers through traditional counselling methods whilst new, more animalistic treatments are developing in London, and Billy Prior, an officer attempting to overcome his optional muteness. As the lives of these different characters entwine with each other the audience can really share in the emotions of ... Read More:

I think the title of this review sum up my opinion. The complexity of the storyline was lost in this adaptation. The facts and details that were changed, removed the edge that this novel had originally.
However, God bless Brian Cox who brought talent to the uninspiring cast. His performance alone envoked an emotional reaction out of me.

I have to say that I am astonished to see how poorly this film is rated by many other reviewers.
I've read a Jane Austen or two, but not Mansfield Park. Consequently, when I saw this film for the first time I thought it was great, and I still do because I still haven't read the book.
It's clear from reading the many other reviews that the makers of this film have greatly upset the Austen purists by substantially altering the story and characters and bringing in non-original elements such as the references to slavery, which anyone could guess was where the family money must have come from.
However, the fact remains that this is a very, very decent film in its own right. Frances O' Connor's Fanny Price - whether she resembles her namesake in ... Read More:

These are 3 very different tales each with their own gentle charms.
The most outstanding of the 3 has to be Emma. On its own it scores higher than the whole collection. This delightful version sees Ms Paltrow working hard on a convincing english accent and winning. It is a beautiful tale of a young woman who is so wrapped up in organising the love lives of others that she fails to notice her own. The actors work together well to provide a beautiful feel-good period drama that keeps much of the gentle humour from the novel and moves fast enough to entertain all but the most die-hard period drama spoil-sports. The only slight on the movie was the miscasting of the gorgeous Ewan MaGreggor. Fantastic as he is, he didn't work in this. But it does not interfere with the overall ... Read More:

This BBC 2-parter on the life of Lord Byron is simply stunning. Jonny Lee Miller captures the poet perfectly, and the girls are gorgeous. We go from Greece to London to Italy, back to Greece where he dies fighting for freedom. Fantastic. And beautifully shot.
