Indiana Jones Trilogy (Box Set) [1984]

starring: Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Sean Connery, Alison Doody, Kate Capshaw
directed by: Steven Spielberg
October 20, 2003

The films are superb as they are and they are just enhanced with this brilliant box set. A few great things about this set is you get interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison at the end of each film, the film quality has been digitally remastered and the sound, and the box that holds all the videos is nice too! So all in all well worth the money for any Indy fan!

VHS : Raiders Of The Lost Ark [1981]

Raiders Of The Lost Ark [1981]

starring: Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John Rhys-Davies
directed by: Steven Spielberg
March 06, 2000

The search for famous lost treasure is something that really gets people excited. If you combine that with gunfights, chase scenes through the desert, mysterious underground vaults, a legendary director and an iconic bullwhip, then you have all the ingredients for capturing the imagination of generations to come.

Harrison Ford really nails the role of protagonist Dr. Jones, with his quirky humour, charismatic presence and sense of adventure instantly capturing the attention of the viewer. His charming performance made him an idol for millions of kids (and I suspect a large number of adults too).

Thrown into the mix is a suitably sinister villain, Rene Belloq (Paul Freeman) out to thwart our hero at every turn. The stunts in the film ... Read More:

Starman [1984]

directed by: John Carpenter

I loved this film, it is quite simply.. beautiful.
It will interest sci fi fans with it space man content but also involves you on the human feeling level with a purity that will make you well up.
It will also make you take another long hard look at what we... humans.. would look like to someone visiting us... an it isn't good.
great film recommended...bridges is as always brilliant

VHS : The Sandlot Kids

The Sandlot Kids

starring: Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Patrick Renna, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York
directed by: David M. Evans
August 14, 1995

Forget.. E.T, this is the greatest kids movie ever made... This movie encapsulates all the coolness of being a kid as well as being really funny and honest. It's like a funny version of a cross between the wonder years and stand by me... It seems stupid cuz this film really isn't exactly complex... infact it's sooo simplistic but soooo watchable... I've seen it about a million times and I still love it... If you got kids buy it for them now!!! If not buy it anyway cuz I promise unless your a heartless boring person you'll love it too! The synopsis may not even sound great but I promise you the homour and story is nailed. Best Kids film ever!!

VHS : The Perfect Storm [2000]

The Perfect Storm [2000]

starring: George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Diane Lane, John C. Reilly, William Fichtner
directed by: Wolfgang Petersen
November 27, 2000

This film is absolutely abysmal. They know i giant storm is out there but those fish just have to be caught. The moments of sentiment between the fishermen and their wives are utterly unconvincing and when the storm finally arrives its a complete disappointment. I love extreme weather conditions (in particular large waves) and was hopeful of at least some good effects and late drama in an otherwise hopeless film but even the perfect storm itself was a disappointment. The camera flicks from a computer generated wave to a boat where it looks like stage hands are just throwing buckets of water over the cast the back to the CGI rubbish and so on with occasional corny lines and cast member dying to mix it up. The idea for this film is great and it could have been so good but then came ... Read More:

VHS : Cruising [1980]

Cruising [1980]

starring: Al Pacino, Paul Sorvino, Karen Allen, Richard Cox, Don Scardino
directed by: William Friedkin
September 08, 1997

***BIG SPOILERS CONTAINED IN THIS REVIEW***

This film fascinates me. Is it good? No, it's boring and badly made. Is it worth watching? Yes, it's very interesting.

The film is a mess that comes apart half way in and has an ending that confuses everyone. I've read up on the film and I got a good description of what actually happens in it from a book about William Friedkin (the director of The French Connection and The Exorcist) written by Thomas D Clagett.

The ending is deliberately ambiguous. The director does not know the answers to most of the questions that you're left with at the end.

Is Richards' the killer? He probably only killed the clothes shop owner in the peepshow booth.

The final image of the man in ... Read More:
