I've always been reluctant of sequels especially the Disney ones. They've never sounded as good.
However we recieved this second hand and my sister decided to watch it..Out of interest once reading the case I decided to sit and watch through it and I was surprised to find it was not as bad as I thought it might.
I do love follow up stories, if they are done properly and this was done very well. An enjoyable follow up to the original and sounds better than the third and some of Disney's latest work. I love story by all accounts, which means it treads the same lines but the history and the consequences of that history is what makes it worthwhile, as is Timon and Pumba who are still as funny if not moreso.
In this sequel to Disney's Aladdin, the young 'street-rat' and his friends, Abu, Jasmine, Rajah and Sultan (not forgetting Genie) are back and battling against the evil Jafar. He has returned as an all-powerful genie (as we all remember from the original) and out for revenge. The graphics and animation may not be as good as in the first film, and Dan Castellaneta is no substitute for Robin Williams, but this is a worthy sequel. Actually, Castellaneta's effort is praiseworthy. I personally love it for the way it handles the complex character of Iago and emphasises the importance of morals and friendship - and courage. I can recommend this film for anyone who truly appreciates this kind of story.

I recently bought this DVD in a fit of nostalgia. I remember seeing "Anastasia" when it was first released in cinemas ten(!) years ago now, and I blame it entirely for my lasting obsession with all things Russian. I settled down to watch it, fully expecting my childish whim to be satisfied.
Visually, this is an outstanding film. Half its power is in the appearance of St. Petersburg and Paris, both of which are a feast for the eyes: I defy anyone to not want to live in early-Communist Russia after watching this! Joking aside, real attention has been paid to fabrics and buildings and as a result they look truely magical. The characters, too, move well in front of their backdrop, and I have to congratulate the production team for making them and ... Read More:
