VHS : Sleeping Beauty [Disney 1959]

Sleeping Beauty [Disney 1959]

starring: Mary Costa, Bill Shirley, Eleanor Audley, Verna Felton, Barbara Luddy
directed by: Clyde Geronimi
May 22, 2000

This is my favourite Disney movie. The backgrounds are detailed and stylised like a series of medieval tapestries. The intergration of the characters in what look like the best sets ever designed for a semi-swashbuckling musical/comedy/thriller is stunning.
I still get frightened when the fire goes out and Maleficent appears to tempt Aurora through the back of the fireplace (Maleficent being a truly evil villainess). The score is superbly used in these scenes. Brilliant stuff.

VHS : The Jungle Book (Disney) (1967) [1968]

The Jungle Book (Disney) (1967) [1968]

starring: Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot, Louis Prima, George Sanders, Sterling Holloway
directed by: Wolfgang Reitherman

I do not get why so many people consider this to be 'best Disney movie ever.' For me, it was never one of my favourites. It's not really bad, but I do not consider it to be that good either, especially when compared to Walt's earlier efforts such as Snow White. To be honest, I feel that some of Disney's so-called 'dark age' efforts such as The Rescuers are better than this.

The animation is alright-ish. The backgrounds are beautiful but seem rather scratchy and flat. There are a few zany sequences, but not really enough to keep me entertained. There is hardly any plot, and most of it doesn't even stay true to the book. It's a shame, because there were some wonderful characters that had real potential. The character development was the only real strong ... Read More:

directed by: Wilfred Jackson, Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske

Great story line, much less grand in scope than the more modern Disney films but with tons of character. The songs dont suffer from the treacle sweetness of recent attempts either. Its one of my favourites!

Alice In Wonderland (1951) (Disney)

starring: Kathryn Beaumont, Ed Wynn, Richard Haydn, Sterling Holloway, Jerry Colonna
directed by: Wilfred Jackson, Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske

First time i saw this movie i was about 6 or 7 years old and it became one of my favorite cartoons.
Then i watched it last night (Im 24 now) and it was more intresting than the first time.
I think Alice in Wonderland is a pure acid trip story, check the colors, voices, the worm with the bong and that mushroom (Magic mushroom maybe) she ate that made her big and small ??????? and also that weird cat.
This movie is made in a way that makes any one who watches it love it.

VHS : Picnic [1956]

Picnic [1956]

starring: William Holden, Kim Novak, Betty Field, Susan Strasberg, Cliff Robertson
directed by: Joshua Logan
August 30, 1994

Before the Labor Day a hansome stranger swings into a small town of Kansas...and he awakes passions that nobody could imagine that were there.
William Holden plays Hal Carter, an irresponsible guy,who falls for the girl of his best friend, Kim Novak as Madge Owens. Unwillingly he also awakes passions not only to her, but also to her little sister, and to a school teacher at her 40's played excellent by Rosalind Russell.
The love scene between Holden and Novak are sensational, and the dance sequence is one of poetry.
This film is based on the classic play of William Inge and is wonderfully directed by the theatre director Joshua Logan. Although sometimes you may find William Holden a little older than he should have been for this particular part, he is excellent ... Read More:

I love dogs, Disney and easy to watch, happy family films. This is all of the above. It's funny, sentimental, well made and downright enjoyable. Classic scenes ("We are Siamese" song and Lady & Tramp sharing spaghetti)stick in the memory forever and seem fresh even 30 years after you first saw it. One of the greatest Disney fims though not as good as Aristocats in my view which has exceptional humour to counterbalance the typical Disney sentiment.

The word tells the truth :"Classic"!
This is an awesome Disney box which includes a really masterpiece that combines real characters with cartoon characters,"Marry Poppins".For you who haven't seen the nanny yet,the movie is a musical,a cartoon,a comedy and most of all it is a movie that relights the family fire in your hearts. This is a "must see" movie for the children of all ages.
I think there is no need to write anything about a girl,a princess named as "aurora".We watched and listened this story from tchaikovsky as a glorious ballet now it's on screen for us by the help of digital technologies.Haven'you got tired of pikachu?!
And lastly,a story of a thief who is not actually thief..and actually not human also!

What can I say?

This one Disney ... Read More:
