After reading some of the reviews on this site I wasn't too sure about purchasing this title but I am pleased I did! This has to be one of the very best Doctor Who stories ever! Fantastic acting and direction make this a must for any fan. The twists and turns in the story and the shocking ending are superbly handled and I would recommend this to anyone, even if you are not a regular viewer. Now if only the BBC still made quality programmes like this...

directed by: Kar Wai Wong

This early Wan Kar Wai masterpiece is considerably lighter but touches on many of his favorite themes (including isolation, unrequited love) and the two stories are woven together loosely. Absolutely essential movie for anyone who considers themselves a lover of HK cinema.

I absolutely love this movie and have watched it several times over. The script is brilliant and you'll find yourself in fits of laughter quite often although be warned tissues may be needed too.
Two women (Whoopi Goldberg and Mary-Louise Parker) agree to travel cross-country together even though they don't know each other in order to share the cost and for safety. On the way they acquire another member (Drew Barrymore) who is an old friend of Whoopi Goldberg's character. The three women are different in almost every way but soon become good friends sharing laughs and tears. A story about a journey of the heart, true friendship and the hardships it can conquer.

Touching and absolutely hilarious this is a movie that should not be missed. ... Read More:

The Importance of Being Earnest [2002]

starring: Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Frances O'Connor, Reese Witherspoon, Judi Dench
directed by: Oliver Parker

A nice change from the usual heaviness of period drama's, I really enjoyed this.

Very light-hearted and some laugh out loud moments. Colin Firth and Rupert Everett work well together and form a funny double act.

I was surprised that I actually liked Reece Witherspoon in this as I usually find her a bit irritating.

Another great performance from Judi Dench, what period drama is complete without her!

Definately worth a watch.

A heart warming and emotive view of post First World War Tyneside. Showing the heartache, poverty and deprivation but the strong and proud spirit of the people of the region and no doubt heavy industrial communities nationwide, that sadly no longer exist. However it's not all doom and gloom and there's merriment as well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this BBC drama, that at one time attracted millions to the telly to watch yet for some strange reason was never repeated. I would recommend this to everyone, a classic. I can't wait for the full series to be released as it's not taken me long to watch all six videos in fact I've had to ration myself otherwise I'll have a long wait. James Bolam, Susan Jameson and the rest of the cast are excellent can't get ... Read More:

Sliding Doors [1998]

starring: Gwyneth Paltrow, John Hannah, John Lynch, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Zara Turner
directed by: Peter Howitt

I admit that the first time I saw this movie I didn't like it at all. Now it is several years later and I have watched almost all of John Hannah's work, so I caught this movie on cable television. On my second viewing and much to my surprise, I absolutely loved it! I was already familiar with Gwyneth Paltrow's work. She is a very talented actress. Now, I also think John Hannah is a very talented actor.

As (Helen), Gwyneth Paltrow was smart, energetic, sexy yet sweet, very pretty, made the best of each situation, and sometimes made mistakes. She was a totally likable character.

As (James), John Hannah gets embarrassed and says silly things in the movie like, "never end a sentence with a preposition - must look up in my English ... Read More:

starring: Linus Roache, Tom Wilkinson, Robert Carlyle, Cathy Tyson, Lesley Sharp
directed by: Antonia Bird

this was my first gay film and managed to stay on top of my favorites.

The lead actor did a terrific job portraying a priest who is torn between his "duties" and homosexuality.

hey, at least his lover was an adult unlike most of the highly publicized real life scandals with children.
