I agree with the last reviewer. This is a series which I made a point of watching. The faultless cast includes a young Ewan McGregor and the excellent Roy Hudd. It must be over 10 years since I've seen it and I'd like to watch it again. Shame there is no DVD release as yet.

Outstanding. I get bored sometimes with some of the long dance sequences in classic musicals, even in great movies like Singin' in the Rain and the Fred-and-Ginger musicals, but this is one of the few films where the dance is truly a pleasure to watch. The lead actors Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer are not often mentioned much in review but the youthfulness and sincerity of their performances is key to the film's success. Those who produced the film considered many options for these two roles and as with everything else, they got it right.

The Jazz Singer takes the wonderfull music of Niel Diamond and puts it to a very good script. I remember watching this when i was a kid and i have been a fan of niel diamond since. I got this recently and showed my wife it who had never seen it and wasnt a fan of niel diamond, guess what? she is now a fan of niel diamond and so is my 12 year old daughter who has watched the movie 4 or 5 times since i got it. Get it I gaurantee you will enjoy it.

A great film that i watched many times as a child. Unfortunately it has not been released on dvd. I find this strange as Helen Mirren plays a main role in this fantastic film.

If your hair is just beginning to go grey at the edges, you will very likely join the ranks of those who feel nostalgic for their lost youth. This marvellous film from the very beginning of the 1960s is another example (with the even better 'Saturday Night & Sunday Morning' for example) of a Britain that has gone for ever. Although filmed in black & white, one really gets the feeling of a grim and gritty country where the austerity brought on by the war hasn't yet disappeared and where the streets are just as narrow as the ideas and opinions. I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this. So I was very suprised when I loved it from start to finish! It has everything we have come to expect of a classic Disney film.. a strong hero/heroine, a hilarious sidekick character, a great soundtrack and a beautiful display of animation. Yes, it really is a great film, with a powerful story and some great characters. Highly recommended.

I have had this movie on Video for ages and have wanted the DVD, unfortunatly my only option was to buy the US version, which I have now done. This movie is one of my must sees, a very moving film, which all my friends hadnt seen before and have loved. As to the previous reviews if the book is even better, I will go and buy. This is a must for your DVD collection.
