Spock's back! And he seems to have an attitude problem (more than usual) His obsession with comparing Picard to His Father "Sarek" as well as Captain Kirk even starts to grate on Present Captain of the Enterprise. The basics of this slow but gripping double episode, are, that Spock has, Seemingly to Starfleet, Defected. When in fact he is Trying to re-united the Distant cousins of Romulus and Vulcan.

A Must for all Trekkies Young and old alike.

Doctor Who - The Masque Of Mandragora

starring: Tom Baker
directed by: Rodney Bennett

Not a classic Tom Baker story by any means, but well crafted, well acted on the whole and with the fine use of location footage at Portmeirion. It plainly isn't really in Italy as everyone looks freezing during the location footage! Even the usually embarrassing effects are surprisingly good.

One of the greatest movies ever made and certainly one of the most influential. With many memorable images and scenes,'King Kong' has stood the test of time no matter what the modern audience might think. This fantastic movie was made in 1933 and when you take this into account the effects are nothing short of amazing. Is it perfect?Well, the dialogue can be cheesy, the acting can be hammy and the close up of Kong's face never really convinces. But so what? This truly deserves to be the legend it is simply because it is the greatest fantasy film ever.Yes,'Lord Of The Rings' or 'Wizard Of Oz' are also marvels of cinema but for me it is Kong that stands above them all,the king of the movie world.

Species [1995]

starring: Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Alfred Molina, Forest Whitaker, Marg Helgenberger
directed by: Roger Donaldson

Best Selling > VHS > Science Fiction and Fantasy

The idea behind the plot is good, but as most of the concept is borrowed from Alien, and Giger obviously didn't work too hard on an original idea, it makes it to the end of the train journey before you spot the cliches, and the blatent copying. Which covers the first twenty minutes.

Woefully miscast, with Marg Helgenberger essentially doing what she now does in CSI, Alfred Molina seriously out of place, and Forest Whitaker being ignored most of the time, when you can see he's right.

Since the entire plot consists of the foursome trying to track the alien, getting picked off one by one and eventually burning it, not forgetting the unnoticed baby with the reptilian tongue, its a small wonder that this one was allowed to escape the storyboard, ... Read More:

this is an excellent three parter.wherever our heroes go they seem to land in trouble,no change here then!!.to help keep the peace crichton finds himself betrothed to a princess when it is discovered that they are a genetic match and any resulting children would keep the royal bloodline pure.these three episodes contain all the usual thrills and spills associated with farscape and the subplots are entertaining and easy to follow.scorpius gets involved as does a murderous scarran.all this going on while zhaan (still on moya) has her own battles to fight singlehandedly.there are some great one liners and twists and turns galore.

If you're a fan of Moya-based Farscpe episodes then you'll love this tape.

'My Three Crichtons' is a very interesting episode, with Ben Browder giving a superb performance as a past, caveman Crichton, normal Crichton and a future, lizard Crichton. This features some nice moral dilemmas for the crew and although not a must-see, it's solid, entertaining viewing.

'Beware of Dog' is a bit like Seaons 1's 'Exodus From Genesis' and is a clever mystery that will keep you guessing till the end.

Not brilliant Farscape, but pretty darn good Farscape.
