VHS : Doctor Who and the Daleks / Daleks Invasion of Earth AD2150 [1963]

Doctor Who and the Daleks / Daleks Invasion of Earth AD2150 [1963]

starring: William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison
February 22, 1993
Best Selling > VHS > Science Fiction and Fantasy

These two old classics are a valuable part to a Dr Who fans collection.
The first movie is the most serious and the most believeable but can become repetitive quickly as the doctor and his companions constantly break in and out of the dalek city.
The Dalek Invasion of Earth deserves the title of the cheesiest comedy of all time. This is greatly helped by Peter Cushings aweful wig and glasses. Also the music contribute to the hilarity.
A definite must for any self respecting doctor who fan!

directed by: Robert Rodriguez

Not the best sci-fi movie you or I have ever watched, but it's interesting in plot to keep you watching the whole way through. If you are expecting a thrilling, remarkable plot (e.g. War Of The Worlds style) then I suggest you look elsewhere, but for a low-key quick affair this is okay. The young actors do very well, are engaging and quite believable. I do recommend as it is enjoyable and keeps you wondering!

VHS : Star Trek Voyager Movie 3 And 4 - Scorpion / Year In Hell [1996]

Star Trek Voyager Movie 3 And 4 - Scorpion / Year In Hell [1996]

from: Paramount Home Entertainment

I greatly congratulate the writers of these stories, as they are excellent. Scorpion sees the introduction of 7 of 9, the best character in the series! and the first real confrontation with the Borg for Voyager. Also, the first completly computer generated aliens, Species 8472, make their debute, with a gripping war in the Delta Quadrant. The Year of Hell sees Voyager attempting to cross the space of an enemy that can change the timeline by erasing certain things from time. The episode is quite complicated, as most 'time' episodes are, but it is great after you've watched it more times. Personally, I like all the 'time' based episodes. These movies are the best collection of the series.

These episodes might have been the first ever individual episode, but they certainly arn't the worst!

The first episode Parallax will have your brain working on overload for a long time. It's a complicated storyline that a true Star Trek fan will find tantilating. It also explores the relationship that's developing between the Maquis and the Starfleet crew.

Secondly on this video, Time And Again, again shows how Star Trek Voyager does what it does best; really capture it's audience. In two means. It shows the quality of acting, and the developing relationships again between crew members.

A definite yes from me!

Star Trek: Enterprise, Vol. 1.10

starring: Scott Bakula, Dominic Keating, Jolene Blalock
September 23, 2002
Best Selling > VHS > Science Fiction and Fantasy

'Aquisition' begins with Trip waking up in sickbay to find the crew unconscious and the ship adrift. Without giving too much away he soon finds the cause of the problem: The Ferengi. The Next Gen and DS9 comical pests are back 100 years before they are first 'officially' encountered. This episode is just plain funny with some great performances from Scott Bakula and Anthony Montgomery as they learn the driving force behind the strange eared interlopers: Greed. Also featuring a fantastic sexy turn from Joelene Blalock as she 'convinces' the Ferengi to 'help' her using much more than her stoic Vulcan logic.
'Oasis' features the return of DS9's Rene Auberjonois as one survivor of many of a crashed ship that's been marooned on a deserted planet for years. Using ... Read More:

VHS : Zeguy

Zeguy

directed by: Shigenori Kageyama
September 12, 1994
Best Selling > VHS > Science Fiction and Fantasy

Miki and Sayaka are two ordinary Japanese schoolgirls whipped up into the clouds when the evil sourceress Himiko hatches a plot to summon the powers of Zeguy and become supreme ruler of both worlds (those either side of the Gates of the Winds.) Himiko wrongly assumes Sayaka to be the Zeguy Priestess and it becomes the responsibility of a Zeguy timelord to protect Miki... and the fate of the world!

The animation is cute, as are most of the characters, and although this anime isn't superb it will appeal to a wide age range. I recommend it for parents with young children.

Contains brief and very tame nudity as Miki takes a bath.

Farscape starts hitting its stride, particularly with the second episode on this tape, I E.T. The first episode involves Criegton experiencing premonitions after being exposed to a radiation leak. The story line is on par with Star Trek's time travel episodes but the real interest is in the future character developments this episode sets up for Dargo.

The second episode, I E.T. is the best episode in the series so far. The crew realise that Moya has been fitted with a tracking device by the Peace Keepers that cannot be removed without injuring or even killing her. This episode is fascinating because it is the first one I've ever seen that really deals with the fact that they are aboard a ship that is not only alive but also sentient. The way the ...
