Five and a half stars for this. TDTESS is a great film; entertaining, well acted - Michael Rennie is stone cold superb, he totally makes the part and the Mom, the kid and the Prof are all good; good direction - it keeps you hooked from the start; music by Hermann; the pace is spot on and the story and premise convincing. This is one of the best films ever with a message more pertinent than ever. Buy it for someone and then borrow it - you'll want your own copy. Apparently there's a remake in the pipeline due 2008, but even if it's great, this film is a tremendous achievement. Nice one, team TDTESS.

An amazing account of Nostradamus's life, which in places is very scary and at the end of the movie, really makes you think about the future. As the movie is quite old, some of the facts at the end of the film may no longer be relevant, but still definatly worth getting if you are a Nostrodamus fan.

Doctor Who - The Day Of The Daleks [1972]

starring: Jon Pertwee, Katy Manning
directed by: Paul Bernard

The ninth season of Doctor Who opened with a group of guerillas from earth in the twenty-third century, travelling back three hundred years in time. Their mission is to assassinate a British diplomat and sabotage a peace process. They believe that by doing so, they can prevent a great terror in the future.
The Daleks return to Doctor Who after a five year absence. This is an enjoyable, if not classic, adventure from Pertwee's era. Pertwee and the regulars are all on fine form. A special mention must go to Aubrey Woods for a memorable strong performance as the Controller in the future earth, who must wrestle with his conscience. This was also the story which introduced the brutal Ogrons.
There are some disappointments. The Dalek ... Read More:

With over 150 stories broadcast, opinion is often divided as to which are the best and worst Doctor Who stories. Ofcourse the usual level of consensus, will see Caves of Androzani, somewhere near the top, and Timelash,Time Flight, and Time And The Rani, at the opposite end. But then in the middle you get stories such as Seeds of Death, Ambassadors of Death, and The Planet of Fire, which people seem to give less attention too, they are simply seen as ok. I think Planet of Fire perhaps deserves a little more recognition. In the documentary accompanying The Leisure Hive, reference is made to the producer John Nathan Turner favouring style over storyline, certainly in Planet of Fire, the fantastic location of Lanzorate, does help distract from a rather ... Isn't it funny how the stories which seemed over complicated and inferior all those years ago now seem to be the most entertaining, largely because of the humour content and the fact they they were something different to the norm. Also, time has levelled all Dr.Who stories in terms of SFX, even the flashy ones seem scarcely more impressive than the cheap ones, nowadays. This story holds up better than most because the plot is highly unusual and similar to "The Langoliers", with the Concord time travelling to a fake air port which evaoporates to reveal Earth during the ice age, and because the dialog is witty and quirky and endearingly old fashioned by today's standards.
And what about the Master? A lot of people complained it made no sense for him ... Read More:

William Hartnell had very few dissapointing stories, and The Time Meddler and The Gunfighters arent two of them, but The Sensorites is quite slow but still entertaining in places. Thats why I give this 4 and a half stars, as The Sensorites gets off to a very good and suspenseful start but then just fizzles out. But the other two historical stories in this set do not dissapoint hardly at all. the Time Meddler takes a while to get started but when it does get going its highly enjoyable, with fine performances from all the actors involved. But the real real gem of this pack is The Gunfighters, in my opinion a high class historical with humour and moderate violence but a very well written piece of work. Some western oriented stuff can be a drag but the Doctor in Tombstone ... Read More:
