VHS : WWF - The Undertaker - His Gravest Matches [1993]

WWF - The Undertaker - His Gravest Matches [1993]

starring: The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, Giant Gonzalez
October 04, 1993
Best Selling > VHS > Sports

This video is great for those who are a fan of the Phenom but haven't watched many matches from his early career.
There are 11 full length matches spread over 2 hours focusing on the Deadman between around 1992-1995ish. There are some very good matches, especially Vs Kamala in a Coffin Match- slightly different to a casket match in the respect of the victor has to NAIL th coffin lid shut instead of just closing it. Other matches include his first encouter with Yokozuna, a title match with Ric Flair, Giant Gonzales, Bam Bam Bigelow and Razor Ramon. I would recommend this video to any WWE or, specifically, Undertaker fan but if you would like a better in depth view of the Phenom's entire career then get Tombstone- The History Of ... Read More:

VHS : Formula 1 World Championship [1998]

Formula 1 World Championship [1998]

by: Formula 1 Review

The season is good but my copy is in 1960's colour! Who cares about Fangio and Ascari, why does it have to be in colour of their days! Let's move on from those silly people to 1998. when Schumacher and Hakkinen had a strong battle until the end when Hakkinen won when Michael Schumacher stalled on pole position and later retired with an exploded tyre like Nigel Mansell in 1986. Yours might be in ordinary colour but I have Fangio and Ascari colour and I hate those drivers and their colour! Who cares about rubbish Fangio and Ascari. Even Fangio's five world titles were beaten by Michael Schumacher!
MICHAEL SCHUMACHER 10/10 (Broke loads of records and is the best and why are a loads of idiots saying he's c**p)
MIKA HAKKINEN 9/10 (Another ... Read More:

Bend It Like Beckham [2002]

I'd been after this film for some time, and was pleased to be able to pick it up cheaply at the supermarket earlier this week. I was somewhat surprised when my mother (not, as far as I know, a fan of the cross-cultural sporting coming-of-age genre) said that she wanted to watch it last night. It turns out that someone had told her that it had been made around where we grew up in West London (Hayes, Southall, Hounslow, Heathrow - how those names mix memory and desire). Neither of us were disappointed - it's an excellent comedy, with some deft touches.

The story isn't perhaps the most original creation, but the merit of the acting is that it has you caring about what happens to the characters. Parminder Nagra is particularly good, although I thought ... Read More:

VHS : Jerry Maguire / Cocktail [1997]

Jerry Maguire / Cocktail [1997]

starring: Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr., Renée Zellweger, Kelly Preston, Jerry O'Connell
directed by: Cameron Crowe
December 27, 2000
Best Selling > VHS > Sports

If you take the equation of bigness of Cruise face on DVD cover as inversely proportional to the quality of the film you find it on, you should be able to avoid these seriously bad films. Yet again no awards for Toms own take on the acting profession that he tries and fails to be a part of. The story is sentimental trash, the writing is terrible and the car chases are virtually non-existant. This is another Cruise missile aimed directly at the soul of the viewers, way off target and fizzling out before ever being a serious threat. Avoid this tramp of a film.

VHS : This Sporting Life [1963]

This Sporting Life [1963]

starring: Richard Harris, Rachel Roberts, Alan Badel, William Hartnell, Colin Blakely
directed by: Lindsay Anderson
January 31, 2000
Best Selling > VHS > Sports

Lindsay Anderson's This Sporting Life now seems more a mishmash of influences than an enduring classic. There's a very strong influence from Truffaut's 400 Blows, a dash of the British Free Cinema movement and a lot of melodramatic kitchen sink `realism,' while the accents are all over the place - set in Wakefield, Yorkshire, the accents veer from Ireland, Wales and all points north. The flashback structure now seems too forced a device to really allow you into the story for far too much of the running time, although the sledgehammer subtly of Roberto Gerhard's crashingly over-the-top monotonal avant-garde score doesn't help by constantly overstating the it's-grim-oop-north clichés as Greek tragedy.

Richard Harris' Frank Machin is very much in the angry-young-man mould ... Read More:
